As panic and confusion over President Biden’s faltering debate performance swept the ranks of Democratic lawmakers late last week, Sen. Joe Manchin III informed a few key allies that he would soon break from Biden in an interview on a Sunday news show, a high-profile defection that would underscore the president’s weakness.

Democrats feared Manchin — a moderate senator from West Virginia who recently registered as an independent but caucuses with Democrats — would call for Biden to step aside. If he did, the senator would then become the first prominent elected official allied with the party to call for Biden to exit the presidential race.

But he didn’t. Senior Democrats heard of Manchin’s plans and started making calls to the independent-minded senator, who once used a Sunday show appearance to announce his opposition to Biden’s top agenda item and effectively kill it. The “full-court press” was quickly assembled to help dissuade Manchin from appearing on the show, according to two people familiar with the response who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.

While the popcorn I have been eating for the past week has been delicious, something is worth pointing out as the Democrats scramble to find a sacrificial lamb to replace their beleaguered president.

After the Dem Party apparatchiks spent millions of dollars affecting the outcomes of a few critical senate GOP primaries in 2022, they convinced themselves that their dream of one party rule in this country could become reality through the manipulation of the oppositions' candidate selection process. So they intentionally enabled the nomination of Donald J. Trump as the GOP candidate by persecuting him and turning him into a martyr in the eyes of the GOP faithful. It worked beautifully.

It was going to a perfect one-two punch. They would set Trump up as the GOP nominee, and then they would convict him of felonies and run against him as a "convicted felon." Meanwhile, they froze out anyone in their own party from running against their own rotting corpse of an incumbent. Unfortunately for them, the corpse has been rotting at a greater rate than they anticipated.

So now Trump has become their Frankenstein monster. And, as much as they may fear-monger, the fact is that Trump's presence on the ballot is as much their doing as anyone else's.  I, for one, cannot wait to vote for Frankenstein for no other reason than to punish the Commies for f***ing around with my party's process and manipulating it to their own ends. And I hope the electorate takes out the congress and senate as well. Even were that the case, I don't expect much will substantively change under Trump, but at least the left will have finally got its comeuppance, and that will be fine by me.

Sen. Joe Manchin had planned to publicly call on President Biden to step aside after last week’s train wreck debate, but top Democrats got wind and convinced him not to — as a growing number of White House officials say they are “freaking the f–k out,” according to reports.

The West Virginia senator — who recently left the Democratic Party and slammed the “partisan extremism” in politics — had let slip to allies that he was going to use a TV news appearance on Sunday to demand the 81-year-old president throw in his re-election campaign, the Washington Post reported, citing multiple sources.

But senior Democrats quickly assembled a “full-court press” as they scrambled to prevent him from becoming the first prominent elected official allied to the party to break from Biden, the sources said.

Manchin, who still caucuses with the Democratic Party, eventually relented and backed out of the scheduled appearance, according to the insiders.
