Newsom’s Bad News for California Police and Prisons

As California wrestles with a hefty $27.6 billion deficit, Governor Gavin Newsom is making cuts, particularly on public safety, which includes law enforcement and prisons.

The plan? A whopping $97 million from trial courts and $10 million from the Department of Justice's Division of Law Enforcement.

Mass Gov Healey decided to close some prisons, with little advance notice, under the guise that the prison space was no longer needed because there were too few inmates.  My suspicion is that she's trying to keep a potential budget deficit under wraps.

The rubbing of the collective noses in the fecal matter left by their collective electoral choices has to take place before change can be expected.
