Like others, I thought this debate format was fantastic for Trump. For the most part, he stayed calm and refrained from the childish behavior that is so distasteful. Who would have thought that Biden would be the one to sling around the epithets -- loser, whiner, etc. Wild.

Agreed. I only watched for an hour and wished I had watched the last half.  Donald J. Trump showed great restraint last night and responding to Biden as he did, redirected the debate. He clearly demonstrated his leadership abilities not only to America last night but to the World as I am sure that many leaders were watching.

Yes, we are an open target right now too because Joe's horrifying weakness was also on display.

After re-watching this thing a second time, I think Biden's chances of being on the ballot in Novemeber have dropped from 70-90%, to 20-40%.  Watching the intriticate details of Biden's body language is a case study of an Alzheimer ridden brain, just trying to run the clock out. No way the dims hitch their wagon to this, due to the down-ballot damage.

It is crazy to think that FJB’s mental state may be what keeps the world’s bad guys in check. How can you predict what he will do if China were to blockade Taiwan?  Crazy. Just crazy.

I'm not a fact checker, so I don't have any inclination to go point by point to say who lied more..

OTOH, "Deflects"?  to Trump?  I don't think CNN unerstands what that word means after watching Biden last night.

Yes they stand to lose a lot if turnout is depressed.  Arizona, Nevada, Maryland, Montana, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania senate races become tossups instead of lean D.  North Carolina and New Hampshire governor slides into lean R.  Probably 15 house races tilt.  That's what will convince them to pay Biden a visit.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) told reporters in the spin room Thursday night in Atlanta after the first presidential debate of the 2024 general election on CNN that President Biden won the debate on the “substance.”

Newsom and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) were sent into a phalanx of reporters as the Biden campaign’s surrogates with a seemingly impossible mission: spin a debate that even MSNBC thought Biden lost as a win for the incumbent.

“To me, that was daylight and darkness … I care about substance,” Newsom said. “This is not about style … Biden not only asserted himself, he reminded people of his accomplishments and his vision for the future.”

Newsom added that he was outraged to hear a former president say that the American economy was doing badly.

The California governor has been a loyal surrogate for the Biden campaign for several months, talking up the president’s record and attacking Republicans and Fox News. He has brushed off speculation that he himself might replace Biden, in the event that the 81-year-old president proved unable to continue his campaign due to age.

The possibility of Biden withdrawing suddenly seemed real after Biden’s halting performance onstage.

In the spin room, Newsom ignored shouted questions from reporters about whether he would consider replacing Biden.

Reading this morning news across the political spectrum, not much is  mentioned about the subjects of last night’s debate.

No one’s gonna pay any attention to fact checkers, and what they have to say.

That's the elephant in the room.  And why I think "Big Mike" is the real Plan B. Swapping one African American Woman for another, should be a net zip, with minimal collateral damage.  She's coy, and even the likes of Dana Perino swears it won't be her, but I think Michelle is just as addicted to attention and power as her punk husband.  I don't buy her blushing coyness.

Another player not being even mentioned is Hakeem Jeffries.  I can easily see him and a moderate dim being their hope for the ticket.

If the 25th amendent scenario comes into play, I think they will use it like a bluffed threat.  That is why I think the speculation with Newscum is overplayed.  His window starts in 2028.
