Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen confirmed how out of touch she and the Biden administration are with Americans struggling in President Joe Biden’s economy.

In a telling moment during an interview with Yahoo! Finance’s Jennifer Schonberger, Yellen brushed off concerns about “sticker shock” at grocery stores, delivering a flat response about inflation without the slightest expression of concern for ordinary Americans trying to put food on their tables.

“Have you been to the grocery store lately?” Schonberger asked in the Monday sit-down with the Treasury secretary.

“I sure have — I go every week,” Yellen replied.

“It’s sticker shock, isn’t it?” Schonberger pressed, to which there was an awkward silence followed by Yellen seeming to respond, “No.”

I wonder how much more expensive this year's July 4 picnic will be, compared to 2020. I noticed today at the grocery store that a package of pre-formed fresh hamburger patties has gone up 25%.

The difference is simple. If you have 20 million, 20 dollars is 1/1,000,000 of your net worth.

If you have 200,000, it is 1/10,000

If you have 20,000, it is 1/1000 of all you own.

The less you have, the more precious every dime becomes.

It is why Christ saw the widow's mite as a great contribution--it represented a substantial portion of all she had.

By now you’ve no doubt heard about President Joe Biden’s interview with “60 Minutes” in which he declared the pandemic “over” and said unequivocally that, “yes,” the United States will come to Taiwan’s defense whenever China attacks. He also made some dubious claims about inflation.

When CBS interviewer Scott Pelley highlighted the abysmal state of the economy and noted that “people are shocked by their grocery bills,” Biden sputtered that the “inflation rate month to month was up just an inch, hardly at all.”  ...

But just how bad is it? Do grocery increases really amount to just 8 percent, or a few cents, per item? Are prices up, as Biden claimed, “hardly at all”?

I went to the grocery store and ran some numbers, and I too was shocked by what I found.  ...

This is a lot of figures to make sense of, but it’s safe to say a single-digit inflation rate doesn’t capture it, and you definitely wouldn’t describe the prices as up “barely an inch.” In fact, among these basic items in my shopping survey, prices were up an overall average of 70 percent since just the Trump midterms! ...
