Thanks to all that sunshine and Hollywood glam, California used to be the place that everyone dreamed about. Lately, many Americans have changed their view on the Golden State and started to dislike it. Let’s look at 18 reasons why lots of us have turned our backs on California.

I realize that the California-Bashing industry has progressed from a cottage to a rented business garage space, but seriously? Groceries are not double every other state (try Hawaii!), and while house prices and rents are through the roof in the SF Peninsula, Silicon Valley, and the Land of LA, those, collectively, are a small part of California. And oh by the way, wages/salaries in higher cost-of-living areas are also higher, something the slideshow did not mention.

In addition to those high prices, California has some of the highest taxes in America. State income taxes can make anyone’s wallet suffer. ...

Yes, California has high taxes, but is not uniquely so. One tax that hits one's cost of living, whether homeowner or renter, is property taxes. Proposition 13, much hated by Dems and other Progs, capped the percentage of a property value the tax can be, and capped the percentage that tax can increase for an owner year over year.

Similarly, many people feel that the cost of such high taxes doesn’t match up with the benefits, or lack thereof. Numerous public services and infrastructure issues just don’t seem to go away. ...

OK, is there a state in the US where the majority of citizens believe they are getting their tax-money's worth, statewide and local?

This is just another clickbait-headlined hyperbole-infused slideshow, with every third slide being an ad.

Where a lot of the resentment comes, is that other states are expected to jump off the same regulatory cliffs as CA. A couple of east Coast States chime in, and then they expect the Federal Government to impose that on all of us.
When the Feds impose it, then Federalism breaks down, along with the ability of States to determine how they want to live.

If we wanted to live that way, we'd either vote for it here, or move there.

And yes, a lot of the bullshit is bicoastal.
What we see from 'Hicksville' out here in flyover country is that some of the most onerous regulations that become Federal originate in California. Emissions controls that were California only become the rule for places where the population density is under 10 people per square mile, by decree, whether they make any sense here or not, no matter how necessary they seem there.
When you live in the magma chamber for such nonsense, it's all the same, but when you see the lava flow coming toward you, it is a different perspective.

I'm not about to go through your voluminous posts to find where you are happy with California, but you sure spend a lot of time defending it if you aren't.

California has the highest unemployment rate out of any state plus DC at 5.3%. 51st out of 51. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The problem with California is, because of it's sheer size, just about every bad liberal idea that gets enacted there spreads like a virus to all the other states, especially those ideas that impact energy production, business, and manufacturing.
