A crime-plagued California city may be one step closer to reversing its fortunes after taking drastic action against its progressive mayor.

Sheng Thao will face a historic recall election in November amid anger over her failure to get a grip on the situation in Oakland.
 
The progressive Democrat lawmaker is the first mayor in the city's history to be up for recall, after a campaign to oust her gained more than 40,000 signatures.

 'In just a year, Thao's incompetence and dishonesty accelerated Oakland's decline, causing longstanding businesses to close and generational families to leave,' the Oakland United to Recall Sheng Thao (OUST) campaign website states.

Among Sheng Thao's first actions as mayor was to can a police chief who was actually trying to make OPD an effective police force. IIRC, he's running for city council, which means it's at least possible that November's election could boot her out of office and vote him into office.

In the same context, Alameda County (of which Oakland is the county seat) DA Pamela Price is facing recall in November as well. Prog DA, Prog-voting county, but one of the strongest voices for giving her the boot is the Oakland NAACP. Somehow that branch of the NAACP noticed that the ones being hurt by emasculated policing and a DA who won't prosecute thefts and assaults and etc. is black people.

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided property owned by Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao Thursday morning, KRON4.com has confirmed. FBI agents arrived at Mayor Thao’s property in the 100 block of Maiden Lane in Oakland at 5:30 a.m., according to sources.

At approximately 10:07 a.m., several FBI agents could be seen walking out of the property carrying bags and boxes. The agents then got into their vehicles and left the scene. An FBI representative told KRON4 the location had been cleared.

These asian mayors seem to be in a bit of trouble...

The guy is a human bobblehead with close-set beady little eyes.  Guys like him are on Wanted Posters down at the post office not in the halls of congress.

Hope he gets his pencil-necked ass beat.

As with any news report with incomplete info, it is confusing and probably has incorrect information. One point of confusion is whether Sheng Thao owns the property (perhaps part owner?) or rents it. Possibilities range from her or her live-in BF running a criminal operation out of her home, a renter running such an operation, or a neighbor in what appears on GoogStreet View to possibly be a multi-unit building doing so.
