Quicksand doesn’t just happen in Hollywood. It happened on a Maine beach

Via AP news wire: A Maine woman enjoying a walk on a popular beach learned that quicksand doesn’t just happen in Hollywood movies in jungles or rainforests.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
What climate change promoted quicksand (which has been around a lot longer than humans).

Maybe the retreating ice sheets allowed it there, but that was caused by mammoth farts...

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Just about every TV western in the 1950s and 1960s had at least one quicksand incident per season. Global warming!! Climate change!!

@mountaineer

A friend and I walked over to Sims Bayou, at the end of our street, and saw a friend's big brother standing in a quicksand pool. That quicksand was really thick. We asked him what he was doing and he said he wanted to see how deep it went. So we sat down and watched him. When he was down to his waist, he yelled to us to help him out. So we began arguing on who was going to help him out. When he was down to his arm pits, we agreed that we would both get him out, but we both had to go in the same distance. There was a tree sapling close by, we bent over to him and let him pull his own self out.
