Dem lawmaker pushes automatic draft registration as Biden’s itching for war

A Democrat lawmaker is facing steep backlash for pushing for an automatic draft sign-up amid the escalating Ukraine-Russia war.

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan’s proposal would mean that all men who turn 18 would automatically be registered into the draft. This would differ from the current system in which 18 to 25-year-old men are required to “voluntarily” register with Selective Service.

Houlahan, to her credit, previously supported legislation that would have required eligible women to also register for the draft.

While debating the proposal last week, Houlahan argued that an automatic draft sign-up would free up money to spend on “readiness and towards mobilization” versus “education and advertising campaigns driven to register people” for the draft, according to Task & Purpose.

In fairness to her, only 84 percent of qualified men signed up for Selective Service in 2022. Moreover, Selective Service is slated to spend $33 million this year alone “to improve registration compliance rates.”

“We really sort of saw this as a chance to both save government resources, save taxpayer dollars, and to help young men avoid the special challenges later in life that can come from not having registered,” a congressional aide for Houlahan told Task & Purpose.

I agree with that.  I know there was a lawsuit filed awhile back challenging male-only registration, but it was stayed or something because Congress supposedly was looking into amending it.  Don't know what happened with that.

Given current policies, male-only mandatory registration seems a pretty clearly unjustifiable case of sex discrimination.

Again, the Democommie approach to mirror Russia in every way has them wanting to reconstitute the draft.  Russia is feeding their 18 year olds into a meat grinder unlike any we have seen in almost 100 years.  The USA should do the same per their effort to mirror the USA.

Again, a simple reminder that Democommies are the single greatest existential threat to our republic.

Transgender People

US citizens or immigrants who are assigned male at birth and changed their gender to female are still required to register. Individuals who are assigned female at birth and changed their gender to male are not required to register.

OPM notes that “transgender” refers to people whose gender identity and/or expression is different from the sex assigned to them at birth (e.g. the sex listed on an original birth certificate). The OPM Guidance further explains that the term “transgender woman” is typically used to refer to someone who was assigned the male sex at birth but who identifies as a female. Likewise, OPM provides that the term “transgender man” typically is used to refer to someone who was assigned the female sex at birth but who identifies as male.

NOTE: Transgender students are welcome to call us at 888-655-1825 regarding their registration requirements if they need a status information letter from Selective Service that clarifies whether or not they are exempt from the registration requirement. Individuals who have changed their gender to male will be asked to complete a Status Information Letter (SIL) request form and provide a copy of their birth certificate. Keep your original SIL and send copies to state-based financial aid institutions if needed.
