"Hotel California" is a ubiquitously famous, globally loved song by the legendary American rock band Eagles. Written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey (lyrically) and Don Felder (musically), it was released as the second single off their album of the same name on February 22, 1977.

Hotel California's lyrics tell a story in a similar thematic style of a Twilight Zone episode, and it's been heavily debated as to what they actually mean for decades. Today on Lyristoric we'll dissect every line in every verse, while looking at the history behind this massive hit, to find out the true meaning behind the metaphoric labyrinth that is Eagles' Hotel California.

I watched the video and noted the references to Satan.  Years ago when this song first came out there were rumors about the Satanic references in the song -- I stopped listening to the Eagles around that time.

This video clip is eerie.  There is a documentary out on the most haunted hotels in the U.S.; one in which my son worked at for a short period of time.  It is indeed haunted.  It also focused on the hotel in which the movie "The Shining" was filmed and it is also haunted.

Enough for me.  I don't deal well with the paranormal for different reasons.  I didn't watch this entire video nor the documentary I mentioned.

Interesting summation. There could be Satanic references. But that could be because the life they were referencing had evil influence. Whatever the case...the "guitar battle" was great.

And it's not like the dark influences were portrayed as good. It was very much a warning. Don't get caught up in this, because it can be a trap and you might very well not find your way out.

Some Christians might beg to differ, but there's a lot of truth to that.
