Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
« on: June 03, 2024, 07:58:16 am »
AXIOS by     Rebecca Falconer 6/2/2024

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the 74-year-old longtime Texas Democrat announced Sunday night.

The big picture: Jackson Lee announced in a statement posted to X that she's undergoing treatment for a disease "that impacts tens of thousands of Americans every year."

•   The Congressional Black Caucus member who sponsored legislation that resulted in Junteeth being established as a federal holiday noted she "will be occasionally absent from Congress" as she receives treatment.

•   But Jackson Lee added that she's "committed to working with our Congressional Leadership including Leader Hakeem Jeffries and the Speaker of House to serve this nation and be present for votes on legislation that is critical for the prosperity and security of the American people."

She should resign and enjoy her remaining weeks or months surrounded by her loved ones.

I've wanted her out of office for years, but not this way.

Just heard on Michael Berry that if she resigns, there will be a special election. If she died while in office, Gov. Abbott could appoint her placement.

She'll probably go the RBG route.  Which is good for the GOP

That would be fine with me. Pancreatic cancer can do its ugly deed very quickly. My mother was gone within 3 weeks of diagnosis.  8888crybaby

Zero sympathy till she gives up her seat. Otherwise screw her. My guess she'll hang on right up to her grave.

I detest her politics and her rhetoric but pancreatic cancer can be so cruel. I can’t help but feel for her as a human being.

I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

That is rare, the 5 year survivability rate is 5%. It's a terrible disease, and I know a lot of people who have died from it.

Queen Sheila is going to demand a royal funeral with solid gold coffin.  I feel sorry for the stonemason who will have to carve a triple crown weave atop her mausoleum.

Yes that's what I've been told, especially since she was diagnosed and treated over 20 years ago.

You mean she's not going "Willie The Wimp", with a Cadillac Coffin?

This is where I am.  I would not wish Pancreatic Cancer on anybody.  Even her.  She deserves to be judged by a power much, much greater than I, and that will be after the PC finishes her off.  One cannot cheat The Maker.

Same here.  Politics aside, cancer is an hideously cruel thief.

Power of prayer... My dad had pancreatic cancer - positively diagnosed and confirmed. On his third round of tests, to determine how to place a bile duct shunt, it was just *gone*.

That was one of the big ones where Yah made himself known to our family.
Dad went on to live another 15 years before he was taken from us - and no, the cancer is not what took him.

I love reading that! It's great when satan's plans are thwarted. I'm glad you had him for all those extra years. I'm sure they were meaningful after such a close call.
