Vermont Passes Law Forcing Energy Companies To Pay Damages For ‘Extreme Weather’
by David Zimmermann  11 hours ago

Vermont on Thursday became the first state to enact a law requiring oil companies to pay for damages caused by extreme weather events, which the bill claims are the direct result of climate change. [emphasis, links added]

The legislation, S.259, will pursue “climate change cost recovery” by establishing a Climate Superfund Cost Recovery Program at the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.

Under the new law, large oil companies and other entities emitting greenhouse gases into the atmosphere will be made to pay for damage from extreme weather events.

Under the bill, the state will compile a report by 2026 calculating the cost to Vermonters of extreme weather events over the last 30 years.

On days where there is good weather, shouldn't the state have to pay energy companies for forcing the weather to behave?

Wish I was on he boards of Oil.   Damages?  Ookey Dokey......

I'd pull every iota of operation, from Crude to Plastic, to Gas Stations.    Enjoy gassing up in Maine or Vermont.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.
