GRAND FORKS — U.S. Border Patrol agents at the Grand Forks Sector's Pembina Station, along with a K9, located three backpacks filled with firearms near the border, according to a USBP news release.
The release, issued Wednesday morning, May 29, says that agents responded to a report of suspicious activity west of the port of entry in Neche, North Dakota, early in the morning of May 15. On scene, agents located two individuals who were absconding into Canada, the release said.
While doing a perimeter search for additional people, K9 Odin led agents to three abandoned backpacks. Inside, there were 65 handguns, 65 pistol magazines, two rifles, one suppressor and two rifle magazines, the release said.
