I'm no maritime engineer, but a ship only capsizes when it heels over past its ability to right itself. Either this ship was inherently stable or was marginally stable and shipped a large or huge amount of water on one side of the ship (or its ballast somehow shifted a large degree?). I'm inclined to think the Iranians' design or build are at fault - marginal stability or unstable - or horrible mishandling before sabotage. Whatever the cause, it's out of service, with a lengthy repair/restoration process ahead of it IF it can be restored to service.
