Dear American People: Your freedoms are being stolen from under your nose

Day by day, tyranny is rising as freedom falls

OPINION:

Day by day, tyranny is rising as freedom falls.

The U.S. military is being used to patrol subway stations and police the U.S.-Mexico border, supposedly in the name of national security.

The financial sector is being used to carry out broad surveillance of Americans’ private financial data, while the entertainment sector is being tapped to inform on video game enthusiasts with a penchant for violent, potentially extremist content, all in an alleged effort to uncover individuals subscribing to anti-government sentiments.

Public and private venues are being equipped with sophisticated surveillance technologies, including biometric and facial recognition software, to track Americans wherever they go and whatever they do. Space satellites with powerful overhead surveillance cameras will render privacy null and void.

This is the state of our nation that no is talking about — not the politicians, not the courts, and not Congress: the government’s power grabs are growing bolder, while the rights of the citizenry continue to be trampled underfoot.

Read this at the Washington Times earlier today -- good essay.

Having said that, the WT isn't what it used to be.
The opinion page is still ok, but the news sections seem to be "sliding towards the center", and relying more on AP articles (with their related bias), etc.

I miss the WT from the days of Wesley Pruden.

Dutch authorities fined US facial recognition firm Clearview AI 30.5 million euros Tuesday for “illegally” creating a database with billions of photos of faces, which they called a “massive” rights breach.

In addition to the penalty, the equivalent of $33.7 million, the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) banned the use of Clearview in the Netherlands.

The watchdog also warned companies that work with the US firm of “hefty fines.”

Clearview scrapes images of faces from the internet without seeking permission and sells access to a trove of billions of pictures to clients, including law enforcement agencies.

It says on its website it has the world’s largest stock of more than 50 billion photos from public sources for use in criminal probes and ensuring public safety.

But AP chairman Aleid Wolfsen said: “Facial recognition is a very invasive technology that you can’t just unleash on everyone in the world.” ... Full story at Insider Paper

... don't forget that far-right Christian conservatives will have the Government monitor women's menstrual cycles in a effort to prevent abortions.

Both far-left and far-right want to use Government to re-engineer society.

The far left wants to reshape society into an Orwellian smurf village.

The far right wants to reshape society into a dystopian Puritanical theocracy of white, male, Christian land-owners.

Both sides need to replace God with Government to achieve their ends.  The Rights of Man come from God.  The rights of Government come from man.  Making Government a false deity solves the problem of "God-given rights and liberties" challenging Government's absolute authority over Man.

The far left will kill God.  The far right will re-appropriate Government as god.

The unwashed masses are in the middle of a tyranny sandwich between left and right.

Government - no matter who is in charge - doesn't want us to have the freedom to make choices for ourselves.

The greatest threat to Government is a free, informed, and independent mind.
