The seasons aren’t what they used to be.

People who live in Earth’s middle latitudes are accustomed to a spring, summer, autumn and winter. If you’re in the northern hemisphere, you may have noticed plants flowering earlier than usual. It’s not your imagination: a 2022 study revealed that spring blooms are arriving a month sooner in the UK due to climate change.

Temperature tells many plants when to start growing in the spring. Ashton says it isn’t clear how plants sense this, but again, pigments in their cells probably play a role.

“[Plants] sense the days getting warmer and alter their spring development in a manner akin to humans feeling warmth on their skin and so stepping out with fewer layers of clothing,” he says.

The Seasons are whatever Nature makes of them.  It's the job of the flora and fauna to adapt to the changes.

Isn't that the basis of Darwinian Evolution?  Those that adapt best survive, propagate, and dominate.

Winter's hangin' on here in the southwest corner of New England.

Cold March winds today, down to around 35 tonight.
Extended forecast (next week) calling for nights in the 20's...

These people are morons.

Even as an El Nino year, this thing was middlin. Nothing much to brag on. Sure we had a warm winter. That's what happens in El Nino years. But this one was not grand. We had feet of snow, most all winter long... Sure and there's none now, but I have personally lived through winters with no snow staying on the ground all winter.

And I ain't crying about a mild winter. We had it coming after the winter before.
