George Soros has purchased a potentially controlling stake in America’s second-largest chain of radio stations.

According to bankruptcy filings cited Wednesday in the New York Post, his Soros Fund Management has bought $400 million of debt in the Audacy chain.

The Post reported that the Fund’s stake comes to about 40% of Audacy’s debt, at a value of about 50 cents on the dollar.

“Although not a majority, [that] could yield effective control of the media giant when it emerges from bankruptcy,” the Post wrote.

A Republican insider “close to the situation” told the Post that Mr. Soros could be making the election-year purchase in a bid to influence public opinion.

Post Limbaugh, does anyone listen to the radio anymore?

Soros pisses away money , like nothing,......  which is fine with me.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

I listen to the radio - both AM and FM - only while driving and am pretty sure some of the stations are part of this Audacy chain. They include sports talk ("The Fan") and radio pioneer KDKA, as well as music stations. Not sure what Soros wants to do to those.

Other than a couple of classic rock or 80's stations, radio is unlistenable.  I play MP3 CD's in my car.

Yes! I do and if you aren't listening to Michael Berry on KTRH or the podcasts on IHeart radio you are doing yourself a grave disservice! He is the closest thing we have to Rush now.

I use USB drives, even though my car is technically deficient(it's OLD) I used a RF transmitter that plugs into a cigarette lighter(remember those) and it plays through a open FM frequency. It works really well and I don't have to juggle CD's.

Any large incursion into media by the Soros Borg would be disturbing. What's so ominous about this story is that a lot of major market news radio stations are involved. Talk radio stations can obviously disseminate biased opinion with ease, and there are plenty of them in the mix for Soros here.

Yep. It's why I seldom listen to radio any more, even when on a long road trip.

Besides, people in other vehicles can't tell if I'm hollering at the dumbass on the radio, or the one that just did some stupid maneuver in front of me.

This might have been a big deal in 1990s, but not nowadays.

This could be a capture and kill operation to take out some local or regional conservative talk show hosts and Trump campaign ads in local markets.

Anyhow, these are Audacy stations (apparently the whole package).

A list, by city, can be found here: https://www.audacy.com/stations/location

The list only makes it down to 'L' and it's alphabetical by city.

A smartphone, as unliked as they are, give you access to essentially millions of radio stations, so not sure why AM would matter. Remember Air America anyone?

Old media is dead, which I partially find a shame as it is interesting.

I have friends that religiously listen to radio.  And yes, Soros would only have one reason to make this purchase, to control the minds of men.  PERIOD!!!

He owns the companies that tabulate the vote for the USA and all western nations.  He is completely about control.  That is why it is naive to believe our elections are not being fixed.  They most certainly are being fixed.

The FCC just released the text of its 3-2 decision to approve a Soros backed group’s purchase of 200+ radio stations.

The Commission’s decision today is unprecedented.  Never before has the Commission voted to approve the transfer of a broadcast license—let alone the transfer of broadcast licenses for over 200 radio stations across more than 40 markets—without following the requirements and procedures codified in federal law.  Not once.

 The Democrat-controlled Federal Communications Commission has officially given leftist billionaire George Soros what he wanted: effective control and foreign ownership of over 200+ American radio stations ahead of the 2024 election — including stations that presently run shows from Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Erick Erickson, Sean Hannity, and Dana Loesch.

While some initially cast doubt on whether Audacy will be actually controlled by Soros, the FCC's Monday memo reveals a Soros entity will hold a "controlling, attributable interest in the reorganized company, holding 57% or greater" of Audacy.

All three Democratic appointees on the FCC supported the final decision both to approve the assignment of licenses previously under the control of a Texas bankruptcy court to the reorganized Audacy and to spare the company from having to comply with Section 310(b)(4) of the Communications Act, which prohibits foreign owners from having a stake in a radio station license exceeding 25%.  ...

Except for certain slices of demographics and programming - not really.

The only time I really like to listen to radio is working outside or in the shed listening to afternoon sports games of my fav teams, strictly because of the nostalgia factor.

Otherwise not so much. Don't even listen to political talk radio very often anymore.

Conservative talk radio became very formulaic in the past 10 years, where they're all talking about the exact same talking points, etc.

I've never watched a podcast and have no plans to do so. My talk radio listening is limited to whenever I'm driving, which really isn't that much (and only if I can't find good classic rock). Let's hope this is a big waste of money for that demon Soros!

Since I retired, I don't listen to talk radio. Used to listen on the drive home (levin).

So Soros may not have made a wise purchase.
