Since they can be furled if they overshoot the desired effect, this would be a better approach than hobbling the world's energy economy with the delusional drive to replace fossil fuels with "renewables".
I say if they promise to let us keep using gasoline and diesel for our vehicles, aviation fuel for aircraft, oil and LNG for ships, natural gas in our furnaces and stoves, wood stoves and fireplaces if we find them convenient, provided they are designed so that if their orbit decays they burn up on reentry into the atmosphere before they fall to an altitude that would interfere with commercial aviation, we fund their space umbrellas.
