We don't care if Don's a con! Over 60% of GOP caucusgoers in Iowa say they'll STILL support Trump if he's convicted of a crime before the general election - as they head to polls in freezing cold

NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll was conducted in Iowa this week
Trump, despite the bevy of cases against him, has surfaced as the frontrunner
Most polls forecast the former president will take about 50 percent of GOP vote
Of the 705 polled, 61 percent said it doesn't matter if he is convicted beforehand

The majority of Republican caucusgoers in Iowa have said Donald Trump being convicted of a crime will not affect their support for the former president.

The NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll was conducted in Iowa last week, ahead of the meeting Monday where Republicans will pick their nominee.

Trump, despite the bevy of cases against him, has surfaced as a frontrunner, with most polls forecasting he will take roughly 50 percent of the vote.

Of the 705 polled, some 61 percent said it doesn't matter to them if he is convicted of any crime prior to the general election.

The results come as voters in the battleground state will commence balloting Monday evening, kicking off the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

He can't afford to lose any voters.  If something like 20% of republicans and independents decide to switch sides after conviction, Biden gets 400 EVs.

Just because the Democratic Party votes in lockstep, doesn't mean the registered Democrats will.

They're suffering too!

Actually, they do

And any registered Democrat who is going to go out and make the effort to vote in  2024 will vote for Biden over Trump.

The so-called Reagan Democrats are pretty much all dead. And the ones that are still living are not enough  to swing an election towards the Republicans

So you're counting on Democrat votes to get Trump elected?

Which is a pipe dream that Democrats are going to come out in high numbers to help replace any lost votes from independents and conservatives this fall

President Reagan's 1984 scope of victory was because Democrats were suffering too.  The stench of Jimmy Carter was fresh in their minds.

They called them Blue Dogs...NOT "Reagan's Blue Dogs".

Still a pipe dream. You’re comparing the 1980 electorate to the one today. There’s not enough Democrats that would vote for Donald Trump to overcome any vote losses on his part. The so-called blue dog Democrat is a myth.

We had similar, if not worse, conditions in 2022 and 2023 and Democrats still did well.  Gasoline prices are going down and experts believe they’ll continue to drop all next year. Democrats have developed an effective strategy and that is make Donald Trump the issue. And it has worked. And more states are gonna have abortion initiatives on the ballot this fall so you have that.

Donald Trump is no Ronald Reagan. People have already made their minds up about Trump. And the idea that people are so-called suffering that they’re gonna run and pull the lever for a Republican all one has to do is look at cities like Chicago and other inner cities to see that doesn’t matter

The reality is that if Trump gets convicted on any of this stuff, he's going to appeal it and be free until the appeals are resolved completely anyway.  I'd also bet a whole lot of money that he would remain President even if he loses the appeals until after he exited office.

That was back when Trump was trashing Reagain.

I can play this game all day.

But when it comes to actual substance:  https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ilanbenmeir/that-time-trump-spent-nearly-100000-on-an-ad-criticizing-us

Anybody can get a picture taken with someone.  But only one person takes out a full page ad slamming Ronald Reagan and then later pretending to be his second coming.
