Harvard President Claudine Gay faces six new plagiarism charges: Report
Total number of plagiarism allegations against Harvard President near 50
By Jeffrey Clark Fox News
Published January 2, 2024 8:05am EST

Harvard President Claudine Gay is facing six new plagiarism charges in another development of an unfolding academic scandal that has rocked one of America's most prestigious universities.

The new charges were first reported on by The Washington Free Beacon and included this claim: "In a 2001 article, Gay lifts nearly half a page of material verbatim from another scholar, David Canon, a political science professor at the University of Wisconsin." The total number of plagiarism allegations against Gay are near 50, or "half of Gay's published works," according to the Free Beacon.

Some Harvard students have called on Gay to resign following weeks of allegations regarding her handling of campus antisemitism, as well the mounting accusations of plagiarism.

I have heard that there are a lot of students and student groups creating legal documention to protect themselves via what they are calling "Gay Clause".  Basically creating protection on the academia level of any consequences of plagerism, via perceived or not.

This pretty much completes the rot of higher education starting at the head.

Her resignation poses a challenge for the Board of Overseers.  The replacement absolutely must be a black lesbian, unless they can find a transsexual muslim.

Yep, and thus the corner higher education has painted itself in.  Kind of a if you can't hold yourself to standard of honor, how can rightfully and maybe legally expect that of students.

Might work at Harvard, since it is that formerly venerable institution that lowered its standards to not bounce a known plagiarist from its presidency.  If anyone tries it here at K-State, I'll sneer at them and ask them whether they think they're at Harvard.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

This is almost the perfect snapshot of the central problem with our basic institutions in this country. Money, lives, and futures on the line and the woke Left plays infantile preschool games, and the people continue to cater to and vote for it.

:silly: His 'explanation' is literally the definition of plagiarism. The words she 'copied' contain the very ideas that she stole and did not attribute.

Claudine Gay QUITS as Harvard President but fails to mention antisemitism testimony OR plagiarism claims in sour resignation letter where she says she's been victim of racism

Gay has been accused of plagiarism and was slammed for Dec 5 testimony
The school stood by her initially despite a wave of public backlash

The Left is making or is attempting to make Black people into super citizens, an aristocracy of sorts. Not because they care about the so-called "Black Plight". They do it to enhance their own feelings of superiority and build their power on the backs of criminals and thugs.

There are over 100 races in America. Only one out of the hundred gets an automatic free-pass no matter what they do. They are 'above the law' in every sense. They are not expected to observe normal rules of society that every one else lives by, because they are deemed 'TOO STUPID' and 'TOO PRIMITIVE' by the Left to be expected to behave like a normal person. I would trade all of my 'White Privilege' for just a piece of the 'Black Privilege' Black people live with day to day.

If you want to know who rules over you, look to the people that you are "not allowed" to criticize.
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists

Harvard's Claudine Gay set to keep her high six-figure annual salary despite resigning as university president

By Social Links for Selim Algar
Published Jan. 2, 2024, 7:20 p.m. ET

Harvard President Claudine Gay will likely earn nearly $900,000 a year despite being forced to resign her position as the school’s top administrator.

She won’t be leading the Crimson, but green shouldn’t be a problem.

Outgoing Harvard President Claudine Gay will still likely earn nearly $900,000 a year despite being forced to resign her position as the school’s top administrator.

Political Science professor Gay — who stepped down amid a tempest of allegations she did not do enough to combat antisemitism and academic plagiarism Tuesday — will now return to a position on the Cambridge, Mass., school’s faculty.

Prior to being named president just six months ago, Gay earned $879,079 as a Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean in 2021 and $824,068 in 2020, according to records published by the university.

Her new position was not specified Tuesday, but she is expected to receive a salary comparable with what she previously received — if not higher.

Yes, it was I, and this whole fiasco serves to reinforce my view that Harvard is a joke of a university.

Being called out for cheating is not racist.  Not being called out for cheating is intellectual and professional fraud.

She lost support once it was revealed that she plagiarized from a white guy.

Harvard President Claudine Gay will likely earn nearly $900,000 a year despite being forced to resign her position as the school’s top administrator.

That word "earn".  I don't think it means what the author thinks it means.

Hamas is reeling after losing two of their most cherished leaders on the same day: military commander Saleh al-Arouri, and Harvard President Claudine Gay.

In all seriousness, I do believe Karen Jean-Pair should be next in line.  She has an MPA from Columbia.  So what if Turnitin says her thesis was 90% cut-n-pasted from Angela Davis?

Ibram X. Kendi, Other Woke Activists Rage over Claudine Gay Resigning as Harvard President: ‘Racist Mobs’

Hardcore woke activists raged on Tuesday in response to the news that Claudine Gay was resigning from her position.

As Breitbart News reported on Tuesday, Gay finally announced her resignation after weeks of battling accusations of plagiarism in the wake of her botched testimony before Congress about the rise of antisemitism on college campuses from anti-Israel activists. The report noted:

Gay’s resignation — just six months and two days into her presidency — makes her tenure as president the shortest in Harvard’s history, according to a report by the Harvard Crimson. According to a letter released by the Harvard Corporation, Provost and Chief Academic Officer Alan M. Garber will take over as interim president.

Dershowitz: Gay Got What She Deserved Under Standards She Used Against Another Black Professor

On Tuesday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “The Record,” Harvard Law Professor and Newsmax Legal Analyst Alan Dershowitz stated that outgoing Harvard President Claudine Gay deserved to be fired under her own standards and noted that Gay joined in on attacks on then-Winthrop House Faculty Dean Ron Sullivan, who eventually lost that position over his response to backlash over representing Harvey Weinstein.

Host Greta Van Susteren said, “What disturbs me is in her statement, if she had said, look, I made a mistake. Now I’m going to have some time to think about it. I hope others learn from what I did. I’ll be better…I would have a different view. But…she talks about her fear and the racial animus, which is exactly what was going on on the campus, only it wasn’t racial animus, it was antisemitism, but it was fear. And she only thinks of it about herself. She didn’t realize her job as the President was to care about others. It’s exactly what those students were saying…those Jewish students who were scared on that campus.”

The left are trying to blame racist conservative twitter for her "forced" resignation, but it was as much Harvard's own lefty faculty who made a stink about her thievery, albeit under the radar:

Harvard inside dope from the weekend: faculty support for Gay fading, her supporters on the defensive or mum.
V. famous senior prof usually above university politics told colleagues she has to go.

Update on my earlier scoop: Loss of faculty confidence tipped the scale. *Including many of Gay’s previous supporters.*
Made clear to the corporation & Gay herself.
Everyone knew a public faculty revolt was in no one’s interest & would end w her gone.
Adjust your priors!

Why?
-Gay put faculty in an absurd position w students.
-Frustration w Gay’s lack of remorse, didn’t explain herself, come clean.
-Anger at corp for the BS investigation that initially led faculty to take her side. They felt duped.
-Institutional harm

It simply made Harvard look bad, and that would trickle down to every Harvard faculty member. Their own academic qualifications and accomplishments could be questioned if Gay wasn't gone. Unfortunately, she isn't really gone. The corporation (board of governance) should have gotten rid of her completely, vamoose, get the hell out of Cambridge.

Someone said. "Gay's firing wasn't racist, but her hiring was."  You can't point to a less qualified candidate for President of Harvard in modern times. She was a DEI hire, and the only qualification was the color of her skin and her ability to cut n paste.

Interesting thread from a man who led the charge (on twitter, anyway) to get rid of Gay. Lengthy, so I'll post the link, too.

In light of today’s news, I thought I would try to take a step back and provide perspective on what this is really all about.

I first became concerned about Harvard  when 34 Harvard student organizations, early on the morning of October 8th before Israel had taken any military actions in Gaza, came out publicly in support of Hamas, a globally recognized terrorist organization, holding Israel ‘solely responsible’ for Hamas’ barbaric and heinous acts.

How could this be? I wondered.

When I saw President Gay’s initial statement about the massacre, it provided more context (!) for the student groups’ statement of support for terrorism. The protests began as pro-Palestine and then became anti-Israel.  Shortly, thereafter, antisemitism exploded on campus as protesters who violated Harvard’s own codes of conduct were emboldened by the lack of enforcement of Harvard’s rules, and kept testing the limits on how aggressive, intimidating, and disruptive they could be to Jewish and Israeli students, and the student body at large. Sadly, antisemitism remains a simmering source of hate even at our best universities among a subset of students.

A few weeks later, I went up to campus to see things with my own eyes, and listen and learn from students and faculty. I met with 15 or so members of the faculty and a few hundred students in small and large settings, and a clearer picture began to emerge.

I ultimately concluded that antisemitism was not the core of the problem, it was simply a troubling warning sign – it was the “canary in the coal mine” – despite how destructive it was in impacting student life and learning on campus.

I came to learn that the root cause of antisemitism at Harvard was an ideology that had been promulgated on campus, an oppressor/oppressed framework, that provided the intellectual bulwark behind the protests, helping to generate anti-Israel and anti-Jewish hate speech and harassment. ...
