Speaker on BBC Verify Correspondent’s Six Month Sabbatical Course Has Called for Jailing Climate Contrarians

Further and better particulars have emerged about the green billionaire-funded course run by the Oxford Climate Journalism Network (OCJN), which has to date attracted over 400 participants from around the world. It recently signed up Marco Silva, the climate ‘disinformation’ specialist employed by BBC Verify. To “hit closer to home”, course participants are told to pick a fruit such as a mango and discuss why it wasn’t as tasty as the year before due to the impact of climate change. Noted climate hysteric Saffron O’Neill has been a past speaker and she is on record as speculating on the need for “fines and imprisonment” for expressing scepticism about “well supported” science. There is something very disturbing about a climate activist from a State-reliant broadcaster attending a course funded by narrative-driven billionaires with a speaker who has suggested that sceptical climate scientists and writers be locked up in prison.

As the Daily Sceptic disclosed, the OCJN six-month course is run by the Reuters Institute, which is funded by the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Direct funding for the course, which started last year, has been provided by the Laudes Foundation and the European Climate Fund, the latter heavily supported by Extinction Rebellion funder Sir Christopher Hohn. Immersion in the correct political narrative surrounding climate collapse, the so-called ‘settled’ science, and the need for extreme Net Zero measures, whatever the cost, is the order of the day. It would appear that the aim of the OCJN is to insert constant fearmongering messages into media stories, as global elites press ahead with a collectivist Net Zero political agenda.

In a recently published essay, two OCJN organisers give chapter and verse as to how this is being directed on the course. It is designed to allow climate journalists to “move beyond their siloed past” into a strategic position within newsrooms “combining expertise with collaboration”. The “pick your mango” strategy is designed to make climate change “less abstract” and delegates are told to pick a “beloved fruit or activity that everyone in your country or region seems to care about, and seems to capture attention when impacted by climate change”.

My contention is not that the Climate has not Changed. Obviously, looking at rocks from hundreds of millions of years ago, it has.

My contrarian kicks in when those hundreds of millions of years of (sometimes severe) climate changes are considered, the human contribution is infinitesimal.

If Nature could do all that without human input, then just how minute must be the effects of human input, or the climate would have steadily warmed from the time we harnessed fire, not to mention burned off expanses of prairies to stampede animals over cliffs for sustenance and materials.

With no fire departments or water bombers to put out wildfires, they must have raged until they either ran out of fuel or storms extinguished them. How does that compare to modern output of whatever emissions are being blamed for changes in climate now? I don't know, but if the data is correct, the planet goes from horribly cold to livable in a series of cycles, and we are fortunate indeed to not live in one of the cold spells.

Where I live, some 12,000 years ago, there was an ice sheet over a kilometer thick. It turned the Missouri River South to find a new course and eventually link up with the Mississippi. I am glad it is gone, and frankly, its return would adversely affect my property values.
Be that as it may, winters are plenty cold, and despite the triple digit heat in summer, it parts with a "You're gonna miss me when I am gone" as the weather slips back into the frosty seasonal grip of single digit and subzero temperatures, something millions avoid by living farther south.
After all, the weather here is described as '8 months of winter and four months of hard sledding'.
If it's too hot where you live, move someplace cooler. 

Mangoes don't grow here, nor peaches, pomegranates, bananas, paw-paws, and a wide variety of berries, fruits, and nuts that simply will not survive the winter. When we get those treats this far north, they were often picked green, shipped, and force ripened using ethylene when they arrived. The oranges you eat in Florida straight off the tree are incredibly different from what passes for an orange here. So, if their mangoes taste different this year, tell me, were they picked at the same stage of ripeness as last year's? Were they from the same trees? Same soil? A lot can affect the flavor and texture of fruit, and it isn't all the climate.

Climate change happens.  Adapt or perish.

There's no need for the West to "de-carbonize".  That's something the Chi-coms want to get a leg up on the West.

It was the Clinton Admin that sold out America to the Chi-coms in the 1990s (remember paper bag filled with cash?).

It just so happens that the leading advocate (Chi-com Kommissar) of Global Climate Change is the Clinton Admin's Vice-President, Al Gore?
