Yes, I've seen that one. Very good.

For the past year (maybe closer to two), I've made a "project" for myself to collect and watch nearly the entire genre of disaster/apocalypse films, as many as I could find (most "zombie" films not included).

Here's the list of those I collected so far.
An * indicates that it was "better".
An - indicates... not so much.

Battlestar Galactica (2004 version) just popped up on Amazon Prime.
Both the pilot movie and the series.

That was a great show but it was canceled after only one season and without finishing the storyline.  We don't know what happened to Kane in the end, which was frustrating.

Two seasons. I'm halfway through season two, so no spoilers please.

I am pissed at myself for watching "BONE TOMAHAWK" (Netflix - Kurt Russell).  Very graphic savagery.

Wish it never was downloaded on my mental hard drive.

That happens a LOT these days. TV ain’t what it used to be.
You're everywhere I go, I am not alone
You call me as Your own to know You and be known.
You are holy!
And I fall down on my knees.
I can feel Your presence here with me.
Suddenly I'm lost within Your beauty,
Caught up in the wonder of Your touch.
Here in this moment I surrender to Your love.

Re-watched BattleStar Galactica 04. Just finished. I did not notice before how much of the show is focused on politics and soap opera type 'relationship issues'. Tons of marriage issues and girlfriend/boyfriend stuff.

Also, I did not notice how much these guy drink. They are not drinking beer. The Galactica crew from the Commander down is swilling hard liquor from the time they wake up until bedtime everyday and they are not drinking shots. Not a good example for children.

As an alcoholic I can verify that a level of alcoholism that severe is not sustainable. Nobody, do not care how much of a badass you are, can drink (tumblers of whiskey) that much everyday and still function competently on a command level. Not to mention the inevitable health issues.

They are drinking in almost every scene (tumblers full). Where were they getting all that liquor in space? Anyone can build a still (clear ethanol), but these guys are drinking brown aged whiskey while short on supplies and while stranded in the middle of nowhere. Nevermind. Just a personal issue with me.

Overall I enjoyed it. Plot twists and turns. It was worth watching.

Well, good luck with your problem
If you like to watch fifties-sixties tv series like I do (yeah, I'm weird that way), you would notice that a great many of these series feature homes where people walk in and almost the first thing they do is head for the liquor table or cabinet. It seems that virtually all houses and offices had liquor tables in them. Combined with constant smoking. The characters seem to be drinking and smoking constantly.
I visited the homes of many friends when I was younger, and none of them had liquor tables ostentatiously displayed in the house. Probably, like my parents, they had one small liquor bottle secured in a kitchen cabinet and brought out only for the once a month card parties my parents had with neighbors.
I guess tv and movie scriptwriters from that era thought everybody had a liquor table in their living rooms.

That is still a noticeable trend in movies and TV... Everybody drinks and goes to clubs. I can understand it, due to my erstwhile self - My previous lifestyle would think nothing of it.

But most folks - In fact, everyone I know - Ain't built that way.

I think that it was a LA and NYC thing among the upper classes and the artsy people.

I noticed in a number of modern tv and movie and productions many of the characters smoke weed. Not only do they smoke weed, when they bump into strangers, they offer them maryjane and, of course, the person offered the weed says thanks and starts toking with the person who made the offer.
Maybe I'm too old (I AM!! too old) and too Midwestern, but I simply can't believe that's a common occurrence in real life.

"Everybody drinks and goes to clubs"

I remember a friend of mine from work who went on a golf trip to Florida with some people during a cold Midwestern winter.
He said every night the guys wanted to eat out and go to strip clubs. Every single night. And these were all married guys. I guess when you're on vacation far from your home, eating out is what you do.
My friend didn't object to the strip clubs so much, but he ate so much rich food he contracted gout.

The wife and I started watching the touted "Those About To Die"  about gladiators during the Roman Empire after Nero croaked. It has Anthony Hopkins in it so we thought we'd give it a chance.
First off, they don't even get the dates correct. It's supposedly the Year Of The Four Emperors which was 69 AD when Nero croaked, but the graphics put it at 79 AD. They're off by ten years.
Then the cinematography is the typical modern dark as can be so you can barely make out what's going on. Then, of course, to be politically correct it seems a great many of the actors are black when there was only a tiny percentage of black people in Rome in those days.
The filming jumped around so much concerning different characters that it was difficult to get a line on what was going on. The CGI is laughably pathetic.
After a half hour we junked it as being irredeemably boring and irritating.

Saw Keri Russell in something and looked up her bio on IMDB.com

In there, it mentions what was considered her best work being The American.  I never heard of it before.  I believe it was on for five seasons.  I have found it very interesting.  About Russian spies in the USA.

Yeah, The Americans is a very hard core Cold War series about two KGB agents operating in America as a married couple.  Russell's character is the worst of the two, who are deeply embedded in American and DC society, being a fanatical Communist with no qualms about committing murder and blackmail in the service of the Soviet State.  Russell is actually married to her co-star in the series,  Matthew Rhys, who also played Perry Mason in the HBO series.

While overall the series was fairly decent, there was still some off-putting things the creators had to put in the show.
For instance, they made Russell's character a superwoman who could easily whip grown men twice her size in fights. There was one scene where Russell got in a fight with a much bigger man (federal agent ?) who was much bigger than her.  During the fight he actually picked her up and threw her against a wall. She got up like nothing happened and then beat him up.
They weren't satisfied with that, so they made her daughter super tough as well beating up much bigger men than her.
I'm at the stage where I can't overlook stuff like that and enjoy a series. It almost ruins it for me.

I went once to a "strip club" during an excursion to New Orleans... w/ a good buddy (probable more clean cut than myself) from college... Neither of us were impressed, far as I know neither of us ever went back. Dark sleezy overpriced drinks and guilt is about all I remember (and a few pounds of well positioned fat on a lady that probable didn't like her situation in life). Depressing memory that I am not proud of.

Depressing memory that I am not proud of.
The last one I went to was about twenty years ago or more when I was still working. I was still unmarried at the time. A friend at work had a birthday party gathering at one of the last topless joints in town.
I remember watching these young women come out and do their thing, and what I remember most was how tedious the whole thing was. While my friends, some about my age, were eying the ladies intently, I kept looking at my watch and wondering how I got so old that I didn't care to watch attractive young ladies taking their clothes off.

My dearly departed spent a fair amount of time in strip joints in his youth. At some point he came home and said it embarrassed him because the girls were so young. He never went back.

Funny aside...We had company from west Tx. The wife was EXTREMELY naive. The guys said they were going to look at strippers. She was amazed there were farming equipment stores open that late at night in the city. :rolling:

Sorry about your husband. My older brother's wife died about seven years ago, and it took him one year to recover. He literally didn't want to talk to anybody for four or five months after her death. He's doing a lot better now and has a girlfriend.
Hope you're doing better. :seeya:

Thanks @goatprairie . Actually he's been gone for quite sometime and I'm just too darned onery to even think about a follow-up act. But most of the funny stories I can tell come from that life.

I got into an 80's military TV show, JAG... I recall it as being a he-man action show... The retrospective was rather stunning. The blatant feminism in the first episodes (the blonde co-star) was so saccharine - an overpowering stench... I dang near turned it off... But I fell asleep through several episodes, two nights in a row, and now the costar is brunette, and the feminism is significantly toned down. So, dunno.

We are rewatching “Everybody Loves Raymond” for the umpteenth time. Still funny.

Mark Levin had an excellent expose of Kamala Harris, the staunch supporter of Marxist ideals in  everything she has done.  His whole show revealed just how bad she really is.

The wife and I started watching "Condor" which is sort of an extended version of the movie, "Three Days Of The Condor" with Robert Redford, Faye Dunaway, and Max Von Sydow.
Let's just the movie was a lot more engrossing.
Naturally, the head assassin attempting to kill the male "hero" is a female. She is a lot tougher than him (as is everybody) and  beats him up.
Did I mention that the "hero" is a big-time wimp? All the women in the series can whip him.
And for sure everybody regularly uses the f word. All the big shots in the FBI, CIA, and whatever gov agency. They even have a little kid using it.
Unfortunately, there's not much suspense in the thing, and the wife and I watched one episode of season 2 and gave up on it.
Again, like many modern series, there is nobody to root for. All the characters are irritating in different ways.

Is this the "Condor" that came out a few years ago, where the protagonist is a reluctant CIA employee whose algorithm mistakenly gets an innocent Muslim killed at a football game, or some such thing?

Better than the Redford film, even, was the novel - but I'm not much of a Redford fan and thought he was miscast.

Hubby and I went to see “Twisters” over the weekend. The popcorn was good, but not so much the movie.

Watched a movie on Paramount called "Shutter Island" with DiCaprio and an All Star cast.
Very dark mystery movie with lots of twists. It was worth watching. Some of you my like it.

Not a huge Redford fan, but he was alright in a number of movies. Didn't read the novel.
The new series "Condor" has to do with the...ahem....."hero" discovering a plot by, of course, the CIA to set off a plague and blame Muslims for it. It's heavily slanted towards a liberal way of looking at the world. And, of course, totally p.c. in casting women and blacks. All the white males are either evil or wimps. The hero is mostly the latter.
It just got tedious. They should have finished it after the first season.

I had a gargantuan crush on Robert Redford when I was about 16 years old, even though he was well into his middle-ages by then.  In retrospect, maybe it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone when I married a significantly older blonde-haired man of less-than-average height.     Anyway, the shine wore off (of Redford, not my hubby) when I found out what a crazy lefty loony he was.  Ugh.

We went with a couple of our sons to see the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie at their request.  It was  ... well, let's just say one of them Googled 'how many f-bombs in Deadpool & Wolverine' on the way out to the car.  In case you are interested, the answer is 116.  It could have been just as funny without all the cursing and the sexualized humor, but whatever.  I guess I'm just an old prude.

Apparently, it is the belief of Hollyweird scriptwriters that all Americans use the f word profusely. The wife and I watched one series "Condor" that even had a little kid using it.
Another trope of these s...writers (rhymes with spit) is that everybody smokes dope.
Actually, not everybody uses the f word or smokes weed. In fact, I'd say only a minority of Americans do either.

Instead of "Earl Gray, hot", more like 'Macallan '26, neat'.

I binge watched  the entire season of The Umbrella Academy again, and finally after two years saw season 4.

Not the best season, but every event, every timeline has been ended and all wrapped up in a bow.

Dunno if it's going to be the right show for most people here ,but I honestly can say it's one of the best SF series I have seen in a long time.
