Still watching "The Virginian." It's the eight season, and it's obvious the scriptwriters are running out of ideas. Trampas is threatened with being lynched for the second time. He was about to be lynched in an episode during one of the early seasons, but wasn't.  Yeah, stunning I know.
I'm waiting around for the quicksand episode where everybody at Shiloh ranch is threatened by quicksand which is everywhere out West according to how many Western episodes feature the hero(es) threatened with being sucked down by the stuff.  :tongue2:

Just watched THE JUDGE, with Robert Downey, Jr., and Robert Duvall

Amazingly stunning performances...both of them!

We also watched that and thought it was very good.
You're everywhere I go, I am not alone
You call me as Your own to know You and be known.
You are holy!
And I fall down on my knees.
I can feel Your presence here with me.
Suddenly I'm lost within Your beauty,
Caught up in the wonder of Your touch.
Here in this moment I surrender to Your love.

We also watched that and thought it was very good.

Saw it too, and suprised it didn't gather any award buzz back 10 years ago.  Then I realized of the 3 great stars,   Duval, RDJ, and BB Thorton....   none are flaming liberals.

Plus the overriding theme of the movie wasn't left pandering either.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that "Monk" is now on Netflix.

Really liked that show when it was first run.

If you enjoy a good comedy -- "A Million Ways to Die in the West"-- hubby had it on the other night and I watched bits and pieces -- pretty hilarious!  Cast; Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron, Neil Harris, Jamie Foxx.....

There seems to be about 100 ghost or 'paranormal' shows on TV today. To me, they are all the same. First, everyone is always in darkness even during a simple interview. Then they go out, again in the dark (everything is always in the dark) then weird stuff starts happening. Or ... they start with all the jump-scare stuff.

Just with the sheer number of these kinds of shows, it seems unlikely to me anyway that enough ghosts exist to fulfill the demand. If someone were addicted to these shows and believe they are real, then they must believe that there are thousands of ghosts/aliens/bigfoots everywhere. Most of the stuff I have seen can be easily explained away or it is staged.

This is a TV show, get it? With no 'activity' as they call it, there is no TV show. But, as long as there are people who enjoy that stuff then more power to them.

You know the phrase....there's a sucker born every minute. Just like the Bigfoot shows where they never seem to find Bigfoot. But just you wait....next episode they're sure to find him.

Watched a rather creepy horror/psychological thriller last night, "Nefarious (2023)", starring Sean Patrick Flanery and Jordan Belfi. A psychiatrist (Belfi) is called to death row to interview a killer (Flanery) slated for execution, to determine if he is mentally competent or not. The killer claims to be possessed by a demon, which forced him to commit his crimes. Flanery puts in a great performance as the possibly possessed, possibly just manipulative killer.

It's available for free on Amazon Prime, if you have a subscription to Prime.

We saw “Nefarious” in the movie theater when it was first released. I think it’s a very good movie. Flanery SHOULD HAVE been nominated for an Oscar.
It’s based on the book “A Nefarious Plot” by Steve Deace. I’m a big Deace fan.

I heard it was good, but by the time I did it had already passed out of theaters, so I'm glad I got to see it on streaming.  Interesting that it was based on a book of that name, given the end of the movie (no spoilers).

The wife and I are now watching a Brit series called "The Fall" about a serial killer in Belfast being investigated by Gillian Anderson who plays a policewoman in charge of finding him. The killer is revealed early on in the series.
This is a profoundly IRRITATING!!!! series that, unfortunately, my wife likes.
Too talky and full of moments that don't lend anything to the search for the murderer. Plus, Anderson's character is extra horny and jumps in the sack with a number of fellow police officers. But, of course, she has to have something for a woman too.
Maybe the most irritating thing (and virtually irrelevant to the story) was a scene where the cops were taking a break eating lunch, Chinese food. What was irritating about the scene? The Irish cops were all using chop sticks to eat the food.
Every damn time there's a scene in a movie of characters, westerners not Asians, eating Chinese food, they use chop sticks instead of knives and forks like regular people would do.
I've eaten in a number of Chinese restaurants over my years, and I've yet to see anybody eat with chopsticks.
Stop it!!!

I watched a few episodes before giving up on it.  I suspect your spouse will do the same.

Yes, I've seen that one. Very good.

For the past year (maybe closer to two), I've made a "project" for myself to collect and watch nearly the entire genre of disaster/apocalypse films, as many as I could find (most "zombie" films not included).

Here's the list of those I collected so far.
An * indicates that it was "better".
An - indicates... not so much.

@GtHawk

LOL!  I thought the GRAY MAN was terrific.

However, my 54 year old son in Florida texted me laughing in stitches after I told him to watch it...because he said it was totally unbelievable!

I'm smitten with Ana de Armas anyway, but the biggest flaw in the movie was merely putting the sadistic "Captain America" hitman to sleep with a dart and running away instead of putting two behind his ear to fight another day.

My son laughed when she drove the red sports car chasing the trolley train only to have him escape the assassins and jump on the hood of the car and simply SMILE.

He's married to Eva Mendez, you know!!

A coincidence that I started watching "Designated Survivor" the day before Donald Sutherland died.

I remember the annoying fact that Kiefer Sutherland "whispered" his complete dialogue throughout the series of episodes.

But the startling thing is that if they took what's going on with our Federal Government and Intelligence Agencies today, they could produce an award-winning show.

It would put Season 1's antagonists/terrorists to shame with the crap we're witnessing today.

I just finished watching the LOTR trilogy that I haven't seen in many years.

For the time, the special affects are really good. Also, a good job of tying a very long and complicated story together.

Although I've read the books numerous times...I think I'll go back and reread.

My favorite movie series (by far!) as well as favorite books. You chose wisely.  happy77

Hubby and I saw the new Costner movie today. It was a long 3 hours. I’m going to think it over before I give any recommendation. On first thought, I’d say wait for it to stream.

A couple of my friends went to see it yesterday @deb . They really weren't impressed. They said it was disjointed with too many story lines that didn't have a strong impression.

Just listening to their review, it sounds like it should have been a tv series instead of a movie.

That’s exactly how I felt - it was disjointed. So much so that I truly didn’t care for any of the characters or their plot lines. I wish he’d made it a TV series. Could have done more character development.
The scenery was beautiful.

It would help if you told us what the name of the new "costner" movie is...

Last night watched:
Old "Outer Limits" episode: "Tourist Attraction".

Tonight:
Probably an old Gabby Hayes show, followed up with a first-season "Twilight Zone" episode.

Watched Hitchcock's first color film "Rope" today for the fifth time or so. The 1948 film was controversial because, although it is never mentioned, homosexuality is strongly implied between two of the main characters played by John Dall and Farley Granger. The movie was actually banned in several cities because of the implied homosexuality.....which, again, is never mentioned.
It has Jimmy Stewart in it as well, although he doesn't appear until far into the movie. Stewart plays a college professor who becomes suspicious of foul play because a dinner guest doesn't show up for a dinner party.
The flick is actually a murder mystery with strong performances by Stewart and Dall.
The funny thing is Stewart thought he was miscast to play a college professor but does an excellent job in my opinion.

It's crappy movie day here at Command Central...

And I picked an extra-crappy one...

"The Huntress" on Prime.

Unless it changes substantially in the second half: Do not watch.

Prime use to have "Alfred Hitchcock presents" for free- now it is behind a paywall. Boo!

I did see a few old Hitchcock movies for free- I know I saw the Birds, and Rear Window.

I ended up watching a couple of old Agatha Christies from the 70 and 80s- Murder on the Orient Express, Evil  Under the Sun and Death on the Nile.

Amazed how many A list actors from that time were in them.

I saw a review on the TV news - it was meh. The reviewer said pretty much what you said. Just imagine three more of these 3-hour movies!

For a while I was watching the Podcast of the Lotus Eaters' livestream coverage of the election results in the U.K. A little scuffed but fun:

The wife and I are now watching season 3 of Clarkson's Farm. It is just as funny and interesting as the first two seasons and fortunately is now being filmed for a fourth season. What is interesting is the maze of rules and regulations Clarkson has to go through to get things done on his farm.

We were fans since its release.  Season 1 still is signiificantly superior (Just my opinion) and funnier than 2/3.   I love how he  belittles the beauracracy in trying to operate a business in socialist UK.    I wonder how he is going deal Season 4 with the new Labour government.

The back and forth between Clarkson and Kaleb has to be the funniest parts of the programs. In the first episode of season 3 Clarkson tells Kaleb that he is making him manager of half the farm's enterprises. Kaleb then tells Clarkson that he's fired. Clarkson responds by telling Kaleb that he can't fire him because he owns the whole farm. Kaleb is only slightly dismayed.
