Donald Trump 'fears Supreme Court could BACK Colorado's decision to take him off the ballot and that three conservative justices he appointed won't want to be seen as political'

    Donald Trump has expressed concern the Supreme Court may side with decisions by Colorado and Maine to exclude him from the primary ballot
    Both states have moved to exclude Trump over his role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, citing the 'insurrection' clause of the constitution

Donald Trump has expressed concern that the Supreme Court could back attempts by Colorado and Maine to block him from the Republican primary ballot, according to reports.

Both states have moved to exclude Trump over his role in the January 6, 2021, attack by his supporters on the Capitol.

The states have accepted legal challenges to Trump's nomination that cite Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which says office holders cannot 'have engaged in insurrection or rebellion'.

Trump has privately expressed concerns that the Supreme Court, to which he appointed three conservative justices while president, may side with Colorado and Maine so as not to appear 'political', The New York Times reported.

Despite the conservative supermajority on the bench the former president is worried the court will rule against him, a source told the Times.

They rightly won't rule against him, but it's nice knowing that he's sweating it out anyway.

It would make for disastrous precedent.  Thankfully, the state party is handling the appeal instead of Trump’s 4th string attorneys.

I doubt that Trump is sweating it out, he doesn't really need CO to win.

The problem indeed is how the justices would rule; some haven't ruled in his favor, certainly Roberts is a wild card and they all looked the other way regarding J6. They indeed should be his biggest concern and really the concern for the rest of our country.  SCOTUS isn't without corruption.

This is a State issue rather than a Federal issue.  But then what do you do when a State Supreme Court chooses to violate State Law?

My earlier prediction is that the vote will go 6-3 or maybe even 5-4 for Mr. Trump.

I wouldn't be surprised to see either Roberts or Kavanaugh defect to the other side. Hopefully, not both of them.

I think it's a due process issue, and that's federal.
