Nearly a Quarter of Trump Supporters Say He Shouldn’t Be GOP Nominee If Convicted
A majority of all people who responded to the poll, 58%, said that Trump has committed 'serious crimes,' while 33% said that he has not

Nearly a quarter of voters for former President Donald Trump say that he should not be chosen at the Republican presidential nominee in 2024 if he is convicted of a crime, according to a new New York Times/Siena College poll.

Twenty percent of self-proclaimed supporters of Trump said that their former president should go to prison if he is convicted in the federal case against him in Washington, D.C., the poll found. Twenty-three percent of Trump voters also responded that they believe Trump has committed "serious crimes."

Of poll respondents who answered the questions, "If the election for the Republican nominee for president were held today, which candidate would you be most likely to vote for?" 63% said Trump.
