Where Things Stand Now

Today is November 6th. October 6th, 31 days ago, was quiet. Peaceful. And if Hamas hadn’t attacked Israel on October 7th, today would be too.

Instead, Hamas attacked, leaving 1400+ dead Israelis and 240 hostages in Gaza.

We know what Hamas did. We know they’d do it again. That’s what this war is about.

Now we’re taking the fight to them in northern Gaza, engaged in close quarter combat. The fighting has been fierce, but, like I told the media today, we countered Hamas’ attacks, we contained them. Now we’re closing in on them.

Yesterday, troops of the 36th Division reached the coast in Gaza. We’ve completed encircling northern Gaza, separating Hamas strongholds in the north from the south. This is proving to be effective.

In the meantime, we’ve been urging civilians in north Gaza to evacuate for weeks. We will continue to allow civilians to evacuate through the evacuation corridor that we’ve opened, despite Hamas efforts to stop them.

CIA Chief Pressures Israel for ‘Pause’ in Fighting — as Hamas on the Ropes

The Biden administration is ratcheting up pressure on the Israeli government to declare a “pause” in fighting against Hamas — even as Israel continues to push the terror organization into a corner.

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday:

    President Biden, in a phone call Monday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urged the Israeli leader to declare a humanitarian pause, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said.

    The conversation came hours after Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burnsarrived in Israel, following a visit to the region by Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Biden’s special envoy for the Middle East, David Satterfield, also returned to Israel, seeking to negotiate the terms of a temporary pause in its assault to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The Biden administration refused to sell American weapons to Israel unless it provided guarantees the guns would not be given to civilians living in the West Bank, the Washington Free Beacon is exclusively reporting.

The Jewish state urgently requested the United States sell it thousands of M-16 rifles following the Hamas terror group's Oct. 7 slaughter of more than 1,400 unarmed Israeli citizens. But the Biden administration would not approve the sale until Israel guaranteed the critical weapons would not reach civilian outposts in the West Bank, which the Biden administration and its Democratic allies view as occupied territory.

The stipulation was characterized by officials as unusual and indicates the Biden administration is succumbing to pressure from its far-left flank, which is pressing Israel to enact a ceasefire and accusing the Jewish state of carrying out a genocide as it defends itself from Hamas terrorists operating in the Gaza Strip.

The guns are critical to Israel’s defense as it faces down the most significant threat in decades. With the military engaged in an assault on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, Jewish civilians in dangerous areas like the West Bank are being trained and equipped to defend themselves against potential attacks.

During a portion of an interview with ABC News aired on Monday’s broadcast of “World News Tonight,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to President Joe Biden urging Israel to refrain from occupying Gaza and a question on how Gaza should be governed after the current conflict is over by stating that Gaza should be governed by people “who don’t want to continue the way of Hamas.” And “for an indefinite period,” Israel “will have the overall security responsibility” for the area because we have seen that when Israel doesn’t “have that security responsibility,” there is “the eruption of Hamas terror on a scale that we couldn’t imagine.”

Host David Muir asked, “President Biden has said that it would be a mistake for Israel to occupy Gaza. Who should govern Gaza when this is over?”

Netanyahu responded, “Those who don’t want to continue the way of Hamas. It certainly is not — I think Israel will, for an indefinite period, will have the overall security responsibility, because we’ve seen what happens when we don’t have it. When we don’t have that security responsibility, what we have is the eruption of Hamas terror on a scale that we couldn’t imagine.”

.  .  .  Local Los Angeles law enforcement confirmed late Monday that the Jewish man's death was caused due to a brain hemorrhage.

The incident was filmed on the attacker's mobile device and has been seized by local police as evidence in their investigation into the incident.

While the police have confirmed the case was being looked into, they haven't provided further details at this time, including whether the suspect has been arrested.

As a desperate father of young hostages told Fox News Digital last week in a phone interview about his missing children, "I don’t know how they’re feeling. If they’re cold. If they’re eating."

Overall, some 240 people or more are still being held captive in Gaza after the Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel.

UPenn alerts FBI to 'disturbing' and 'threatening' antisemitic emails against its Jewish community

The University of Pennsylvania alerted the FBI to threatening messages its staff members received targeting its Jewish community, and an investigation is underway, according to an email obtained by Fox News Digital.

Penn president Liz Magill emailed the campus community on Monday advising them that university staff members received "disturbing antisemitic emails" "threatening violence" against its Jewish community. The messages included "hateful language" and targeted "the personal identities of the recipients."

The "vile" antisemitic emails specifically named Penn Hillel, a Jewish organization at the university, and Lauder College House, an on-campus housing unit.

Magill said Penn's Division of Public Safety was immediately alerted to the threats. The Penn police subsequently notified the FBI of the "potential hate crime," and a joint investigation is underway.

"Based on these emails, Penn's Division of Public Safety conducted thorough safety sweeps of Penn Hillel and Lauder College House and found no credible threat at this time," Magill wrote in her email. "Penn Police will remain on site until further notice and has increased security presence throughout our campus."
