An Israeli official said that Blinken will give Israel the green light for more time to fight Hamas despite the fact that the Biden administration has been under pressure, including from members of the Democratic Party, to pressure Israel to agree to a ceasefire. (Ynet)

I honestly think that Biden and Blinken have some kind of misguided idea that they are running the war in Israel. They think that they are 'large and in charge' on the battlefield. We say go. We say stop. I personally think that they may be ever so slightly mistaken in that assumption.

Are they going to provide the operators as well? I seriously doubt that just "providing" the system which is composed of 3 vehicles per, is going to have any meaningful impact. More likely, they're going to make some nice targets now that Israel knows they're going to be moving them. Kind of hard to hide vehicles that size in that terrain.

Soldiers from the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion and the Armored Corps’ 53rd Battalion clashed with multiple terrorist squads inside Gaza overnight.

The terrorists fired anti-tank missiles at the troops, activated a number of IEDs and attempted to climb onto one of the troop’s vehicles.

Soldiers on the ground directed aircraft and artillery strikes—neutralizing the terrorists and their threats.

The elite Yahalom (Diamond) combat engineering unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has been busy finding and destroying Hamas tunnels in the Gaza Strip as part of an operation that could take many months.

As Breitbart News reported Thursday:

    The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is beginning to tackle the challenge of Hamas’s underground tunnel network, in which it hides terrorists, weapons, supplies — and hostages.

    There are hundreds of miles of Hamas tunnels underneath Gaza, often built with supplies that were supposed to be used for civilian construction and humanitarian aid. Some tunnels were built through the use of child slave labor, leading to the deaths of Palestinian children. And, as critics have noted, none of the tunnels offer bomb shelters for Palestinian civilians — only terrorists.

On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” USAID Administrator Samantha Power acknowledged that “Hamas is willing to cause its own civilians to pay the price and willing to set up shop in places where civilians are gathered,” but Israel has “to respect schools and mosques and facilities where civilians are gathered.” And that, even when terrorists take advantage of civilian infrastructure, “to go forward and attack civilian targets sets back the cause fundamentally. It means that the legitimacy of the effort is undermined.”

Power said that we have “seen a response in which Israel is exercising its legitimate right to self-defense, but civilians are caught up in that, in what you had just heard is a very densely-populated area.” And “We see President Biden, who’s becoming almost a humanitarian desk officer in pushing for trucks and water and fuel and respect for international humanitarian law and distinguishing between Hamas and civilians, as hard as that is when Hamas is willing to cause its own civilians to pay the price and willing to set up shop in places where civilians are gathered, including refugee camps, and so forth.”

Blinken meets Netanyahu, Herzog to push humanitarian pauses

 Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Israel's top leaders Friday after landing in Tel Aviv.

Blinken met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog in hopes of negotiating humanitarian pauses in the Israeli-Hamas conflict.

The secretary of state is joined by US Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew, who was voted into his position on Tuesday.

Blinken and Lew also meting with Israel's war cabinet.

Blinken told the press before his departure from Washington DC that protecting civilians, coordinating the safe return of hostages taken by Hamas, and preventing a wider regional conflict were among his highest priorities.

In lengthy televised remarks on Friday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah warned "Americans have to pay" for the United States' involvement in the war in Gaza.

Bottom line: Tunnels are ideal when the enemy is away. They will protect you from airstrikes & limited raids. But with the IDF deep inside Gaza, the dynamic changes. Difficult battles are still coming up, but the Hamas tunnel network is starting to crumble.

Wow ... imagine being a terrorist hiding in those tunnels with nowhere to run to, while listening to all the heavy equipment rolling around over your head and hearing the footsteps of the soldiers shouting orders above you. Those guys have to be terrified never knowing what is coming next. Water, gas, explosives, collapse, being sealed in, trying to guess what is going to kill them. Going on the attack would be suicide.

Tunnels worked in Vietnam because they were nearly impossible to find. In an urban environment with the modern technology available today and the enemy on top of you, tunnels are a deathtrap.
