Michigan Jewish synagogue president Samantha Woll found dead outside Detroit home
Police in Detroit said there's no motive in the death of a prominent synagogue president, as of Saturday afternoon

Prominent Detroit synagogue president Samantha Woll was found dead outside of her home early Saturday morning, police said.

Police found multiple stab wounds and a trail of blood leading to her home, which is where law enforcement believes the crime was committed, Detroit police said in an email.

There's no apparent motive for the deadly attack, according to police, which assigned the case ot the homicide division.

The 40-year-old leader led the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue since 2022 and previously worked for Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin and the re-election campaign of Attorney General Dana Nessel, both Democrats.



Detroit police declined to answer Fox News Digital's questions about leads on a potential suspect or if this was considered a hate crime.

The FBI said it's "aware of the incident, and we will assist the Detroit Police Department as requested."

No motive?  She's Jewish. The cities with largest Arab American populations are Los Angeles, Detroit, New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C. The Greater Detroit area hosts a diverse population of Arab Americans. Arab Americans are believed to be the third largest ethnic population in the state of Michigan.

On October 21, Samantha Woll, the 40-year-old president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue, was found stabbed to death in front of her home in the city’s Lafayette Park neighborhood. A mere two days later, Detroit’s police chief, James White, said that the police were “confident” that Woll’s murder didn’t seem to be a hate crime.

Why “confident”? Given that the prominently Jewish Woll was murdered amid a nationwide explosion of anti-Semitic violence following Hamas’s October 7 pogrom in Israel, one might assume that White had slam-dunk evidence ruling out Jew-hatred.

But if he did, he wasn’t sharing it. “Right now, the evidence doesn’t take us there,” he said. “When we talk about hate crimes, there are certain tracks they take. We’re confident that we don’t have any indication of that at this point.”

In times of widespread unrest, it’s reckless to speculate about unsolved crimes. I don’t know who killed Samantha Woll or why. And I hope, for the sake of the Jews and the state of our country, that White is correct. But his logic isn’t impressive. ...

Yet another update ...

This is such a strange story. New Twitter thread: It's been 6 weeks since the murder of Detroit synagogue president Samantha Woll. No suspect in custody. At the time it was declared definitely not an anti-Semitic hate crime. National media moved on. Now the police chief appeared to walk that back.
