But what happens AFTER the military actions are finished will be more important.

The Israelis cannot let Gaza go back to "self-government".
The first thing the palis do will be to vote hamas back in as their rulers.

Instead, Gaza will have to be (again?) governed by Israel, perhaps with a military governor.
And the "police" there will have to be vetted by Israelis -- if that will do any good. In all likelihood, they'll be pro-hamas anyway.

Don't for a moment believe that this will be "the end of hamas".
Not a chance.

Even if the Israelis kill every hamas terrorist of fighting age, a new crop will spring forth from the land as the Jew-hating youths reach maturity and reform hamas in the hopes of launching another attack on the Israelis.

This thorn will fester as long as there are palis breathing oxygen in Gaza.

We ALL want and maybe even need,to think that there is a rational solution to all problems,but  this just isn't true because there are almost always irrational people involved in the decision making.

The United States Embassy in Israel will evacuate Americans by sea on Monday morning as civilians try to reach safety after last weekend’s unprecedented terrorist attack ignited war in the region.

The embassy announced the move in a security alert posted to its website Sunday morning, which stated that Americans and immediate family members “with a valid travel document” could board the Cyprus-bound boat at the Israeli port city of Haifa. The journey to Limassol Port is expected to take 10 to 12 hours, according to the alert.

“Boarding will proceed in order of arrival and is on a space-limited basis,” the embassy said early Sunday.

Individuals will be responsible for arranging their own travel to Haifa, as well as accommodations and onward travel from Cyprus.

The White House and U.S. State Department announced on Friday that it had begun chartering flights to Athens and Frankfurt as part of a larger effort to “facilitate the safe departure of thousands of U.S. citizens” from Israel.

At least 3,600 people and 29 Americans have died since the conflict erupted last Saturday.

Dramatic video shows Israeli navy unit shooting Hamas terrorists at sea

Newly released video shows the moment members of an Israeli navy unit gunned down Hamas terrorists trying to infiltrate the country by sea on the morning of the attack.

The dramatic footage captured sailors from the Snapir unit aboard Defender-class vessels firing machine guns and lobbing depth charges on the terrorists after their speedboats were sunk by Dvora-class patrol boats, The Times of Israel reported.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the terrorists tried to swim toward the Israeli coast.

“Snapir fighters opened fire on the terrorists, amid a naval pursuit. The fighters thwarted a number of terrorists at sea, and from there they continued to thwart terrorists when they reached the coastline,” the IDF said.

Snapir is a harbor security unit that is part of the patrol squadrons stationed at the Navy’s bases in nearby Ashdod, Haifa in the north and Eilat in the south, the outlet noted.

IDF releases video of Hamas gunman storming Israeli homes before he’s taken out

The Israel Defense Forces released footage from the perspective of a Hamas gunman who crossed the border into Israel and shot up homes of innocent civilians before he was taken out by Israeli security forces.

The IDF posted the three-minute clip — which appears to have been filmed by the militant’s body-worn camera — to X on Sunday along with a trigger warning.

“RAW FOOTAGE: Hamas jihadists squad invasion and killing spree of an innocent Israeli community,” the Israeli military captioned the video. “The filmed terrorist was neutralized by Israeli security forces.”

The footage shows heavily armed Hamas terrorists riding on motorized bikes through a cut opening in the border fence separating Gaza and southern Israel.

The militants fire guns as they pass by a security booth, which has a gunshot hole in its window, and then enter a neighborhood where they fire into civilians’ homes, according to the clip.
