   Another thing that @sneakypete doesn't get is that he ran for Gov of Florida two times. His first election he got the coveted Orange endorsement and barely won.  His reelection he did not get the endorsement and won by the largest margin of ANY Republican running in 2020.  Same CYCLE Trump lost!
  This means to me that the Trump endorsement can definitely not be an advantage in some areas of the Country and actually drag the person to the dustbin of history, see OZ, Walker and many others.

Exactly.

Well,that is pure BullBush,but there does seem to be a lot to smear,doesn't it?

Maybe gutless weasels that bray like jackasses shouldn't run for the WH?

@sneakeypete -- you're going to believe what you're going to believe.  DeSantis is not the jackass in this scenario, Trump is.  It's a shame how he has returned to his childish ways.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

In fact, during his victory speech that night in Orlando, one of his first remarks was, “Thank you, Mr. President.”

That was after the first time he was elected by less that .5%.  Funny, I don't recall the good governor calling to thank Trump after he won by a landslide this past election.  You're right ... I love when this happens!   :beer:

So?  I imagine he thanked a lot of other people also.  That doesn't mean he owes it to them to subordinate his career to theirs six years later.

@roamer_1

Stop...will ya?

It still explicitly implies ACKNOWLEDGES that President Trump was instrumental in his victory which is the only point @bigheadfred  was making.

@corbe

What YOU and others like you don't "get" is he was losing the first election,and then Trump came in and campaigned for him and put him in the position to win. Without Trump's endorsement and backing,he PROBABLY wouldn't have won the first time,so his "second win" would have never happened,and he wouldn't be in a position to run for President.

Not that I,or many other people who aren't his groupies think he is going to win election to the WH. He's not.

You can just as easily say that without a Trump endorsement DeSantis would have lost.

@bigheadfred

And you would be speaking the truth.

Actually, no, you can't.  Counterfactuals are generally not reliable, and that is what you're positing.

The funniest thing about that is without Trump's endorsement he wouldn't have won at  all. He even thanked Trump for his support after he did win.

Not that reality means anything to  groupies.

So, since you're a Trump groupie, does that mean that reality means nothing to you??

What proof do we have of that statement? None.

You just assume that because the race was close, the endorsement is what put him over the top. With no proof that the endorsement even made a positive impact.

Again, no proof of this whatsoever. Florida has been trending red this whole millennium and other Republicans have outperformed Trump in the state consistently (I recall Rubio's 2016 victory). If anything, Trump's kiss of death put a seat in jeopardy that would not otherwise have been.

Yep...  That's a two edged Tumpy sword.  You sure didn't hear the likes of @sneakypete , @Right_in_Virginia, or @DCPatriot  admit that endorsing Walker, and OZ, or the fact they were his hand picked choices cost the GOP the '22 senate electons.

We could easily speculate that Trump’s endorsement in 2018 ended up making the election closer

Because without his endorsement in 2022, DeSantis won a landslide
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Non-sequitur.

He thanked President Trump at 1st opportunity.
