 DOJ seeking 33 years in prison for ex-Proud Boys leader in Jan. 6 case

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking 33 years in prison for former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, who was convicted of seditious conspiracy earlier this year in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

He and four other Proud Boys in May were convicted of entering a seditious conspiracy against the U.S. government to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

As national chairman of the right-wing extremist group, Tarrio was a “naturally charismatic leader” and “a savvy propagandist,” prosecutors said in a sentencing memo published late Thursday.

“In that capacity, he had influence over countless subordinate members of his group and members of the general public, and he used that influence to organize and execute the conspiracy to forcibly stop the peaceful democratic transfer of power,” they wrote.

Though Tarrio was not at the Capitol on Jan. 6, prosecutors portrayed him as the leader and main driver of a plot to keep former President Trump in power.

 Proud Boy disappears ahead of sentencing in Capitol riot case

A member of the Proud Boys has disappeared ahead of his sentencing on charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, according to an arrest warrant unsealed on Friday.

Christopher Worrell was convicted earlier this year on seven counts related to his conduct during the insurrection, including assaulting a group of Capitol Police officers with pepper spray and lying to investigators.

He was set to be sentenced on Friday, with prosecutors seeking 14 years in prison. However, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest on Tuesday, and his sentencing hearing was cancelled on Wednesday, court records show.

A spokesperson for the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Columbia said in a statement that they are “interested in any information the public might provide regarding his whereabouts.”

Worrell had been on house arrest in Florida since November 2021.

He is one of more than three dozen people charged in the Jan. 6 riot who have been tied to the Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group.

Four members of the Proud Boys, including former leader Enrique Tarrio, were convicted of seditious conspiracy in May.

I really can't blame the guy for getting out of Dodge, the way these DC-based federal judges have been going way beyond the law and the Constitution in handing out these ridiculous prison sentences.

If he was Black and BLM or even Antifa he would have received an apology and a cash consolation prize, I know this to be true because there are verifiable incidents.
