DeSantis: Trump never 'drained the swamp,' but I did in Florida

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis declared that he is the right person to "drain the swamp" in Washington as a president – a feat, he argued, former President and 2024 GOP front-runner Donald Trump never accomplished in his term.

"I give him credit, even though we're competing, for the great things he did do. But one of the things he did not do was drain the swamp… the swamp got worse in his four years," DeSantis said on "The Ingraham Angle" Tuesday.

DeSantis told host Laura Ingraham he is the best candidate to end the political "weaponization" of the federal government, which he said would start with the termination of FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Wray, a Trump appointee, was suggested by ex-New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, according to the current front-runner, who has since distanced himself from that decision.

"You're going to see the DOJ cleared out. We are going to ensure a single standard of justice in this country again. And I can say that with credibility, because I've done that in the state of Florida," DeSantis said............

Yep. That's why a DeSantis will be a real conservative President. Trump listened to swampy people, hired swampy people, couldn't stand up to swampy people, and made deals with swampy people. He went after low hanging fruit and beat his chest over minimal accomplishments that were reversed as soon as Biden came into office.
The Republic is lost.

DeSantis also has a solid conservative statehouse. Very unlikely he would have that if he went to Washington DC.

Otherwise, everything you posted is accurate

Yes, he has had that advantage. Keep in mind, the people elected those officials; conservatism won. Ron's conservative policies have won. He has used the advantage and gotten things done.

In comparison, Trump had a super majority for the first two years of his administration. What really did he accomplish?  He was too busy trying to figure out the ins and outs of government and realized he had a Senate and House to deal with. Very few of the policies that he implemented are still in affect.  The wall never got completed ..... etc.

All true

But we don’t know if he has what it takes to build coalitions to get things done. Tallahassee is a different jungle than Washington DC.

DeSantis has built a coalition otherwise, he wouldn't have accomplished what he has.

Well, we can roll the dice with someone who didn't accomplish squat at the end of the day or we can roll the dice with someone who has a proven track record of getting things done.

Are you kidding me?  This from you who hawks and defends one of the biggest narcissist in political history.  Tumpy is only in it for himself, and you freakin' know it.

The Orange big block and lead you spout about is a lot softer than you realize.  Yeah, I think he will win the nomination but his support within the GOP and conservatives is a helluva a lot softer than either 2016 or 2020, and that for certain is going to bite him on his ass in 2024.

We need to poll to prove it to you even here at TBR.  Enumerate how many previously voted for him, that aren't considering it in 2024.

I'll start.  Count me as Briefer #1 vote in that category.

So, no dispute that DeSantis drained the swamp in Florida? Just more deflection?

So you are in a position to speak for all the people who donated money with the understanding it was for the election? Or are you using we as in Trump staff? Inquiring minds and all.

Seems the Trump "campaign" is nothing but a legal defense fund.  What his crackpot attorneys do not siphon off, he spends attacking republicans to keep his "campaign" alive.

People need to open their eyes to what is happening -- I think Trump is being wrongly accused but hasn't he always claimed he doesn't need our money, that he has enough of his own???
