Leftists say Joe Biden merely assisted Hunter’s ‘illusion’ of influence
By Andrea Widburg

According to those leftists who seem okay with having Biden at the head of the 2024 Democrat party ticket, Joe Biden is just a friendly guy who did nothing more than say “hi” to people. It was Hunter who was selling an “illusion” that his clients were buying access to Joe Biden. And if you believe that, I’ve got a bridge in Ukraine to sell you that –honest!—hasn’t had any damage from Russian shelling. At least, that’s according to Rep. Dan Goldman (D-CA).

Before getting to Goldman’s novel interpretation of what’s been going on with Joe and Hunter Biden, a little history:

While Vice President, Joe often took Hunter with him on official trips. On those same trips, we know that Hunter met rich people who were corrupt or had ties to our geopolitical opponents. They looked at this guy with no discernable skills and a long history of raging addictions and decided that they wanted to give him tens of millions of dollars.

As a concept, the "illusion of influence" is like being "partly pregnant".

It either is, or it is not.

People pretend to have influence all the time, but most of them are not a child of the President of the United States, in which case: it's no illusion.

Of course, the President is not obliged to act in service of such influence.

But when millions of dollars can be shown to have been exchanged between the parties and demonstrable actions taken as a consequence... it's a safe bet that the influence peddling was successful, as intended.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

The Dems keep moving the goal post closer to their own end zone.

Hunter was selling access to, and influence of, Vice President Joe Biden.  There's no doubt what Hunter was doing.  Why else would a Ukrainian gas company put an American crack addict with no energy experience on their Board?

The questions are ... how much did Joe participate in, contribute to, or benefit from Hunter's activities, some of which may have been unregistered foreign lobbying?  How much can be proven in court and to the public?  Would any of these qualify as Emoluents, which might disqualify Joe from being President again or be grounds for impeachment?

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Well, if Hunter was selling influence he didn't have, it becomes Felony Fraud.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The fact that these entities continued to pay Hunter indicates that they were receiving value for their payments.  Thus, the influence was genuine.  Does anyone believe Burisma would have kept them on his payroll for 34 consecutive months if they weren't getting value in return?  And why would they suddenly cut him off once Biden left office?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

In all of this, there has been no press curiosity in finding out who the “big guy” is that was getting his 10%

The medias lack of curiosity makes it obvious who the “big guy” is

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.
