Inside Nikki Haley’s quest to be America’s Iron Lady

LITTLETON, N.H. — When Nikki Haley looks at America, she sees a nation full of self-loathing as its debt skyrockets and a belligerent China emerges as a threat to its pre-eminence.

In her eyes, the US is in a rut that requires an iron will to snap out of.

“I think America needs a woman of steel like no other,” Haley, 51, told The Post from a hotel in this town of 6,000 just across the Connecticut River from Vermont.

“They need someone who’s going to tell them the truth,” she added. “They need someone who’s going to make the hard decisions.”

To Haley’s supporters, this bleak assessment of American in 2023 is no accident, but meant to recall a very different time and place: Great Britain, circa 1979.

Definitely not my favorite...but I'd vote for her in the general election over any Democrat.

She's already demonstrated that she is subservient to Trump.

She can't easily wash off the stink from riding Trump's coattails.

Nikki Haley kissed Trump's political ring, and now Trump owns her political soul.

I'd generally agree with that...although if she were to actually win, she'd be independent of him so it would be much less relevant.  She still wouldn't be him.

Well, you can't do anything if you can't get into office, and I expect most politicians are slimy enough to compromise on principles to get into office.  I have no illusions that she's anything special.

But, I also think she'd be better than either Biden or Trump.
