Each protestant denomination has its own standards for ordination. Some permit women to be pastors, elders and/or deacons, others do not. The distinction is based on each group's interpretation of relevant scripture.
@mountaineer Thanks. I grew up going to a Protestant Church. Even had two uncles that were ministers. I knew back then it was possible for women to be Protestant Ministers,but never personally saw or heard of one.
Which is a little surprising when you think about it. Despite what we are told now,most women back then didn't seem to be hesitant to step forward when that was what was needed,and none that I ever saw seemed to catch much heat for it.
Then again,I was a child,and that might have been kept from me.
