Miami Mayor Francis Suarez files to run for president
Suarez's 2024 presidential campaign comes amid ethics investigation
By Jessica Chasmar | Fox News
Quote
Miami Mayor Francis Suarez officially filed paperwork on Wednesday declaring his campaign for president in 2024 as a Republican, according to a Federal Election Commission filing.

The filing comes after a newly rebranded super PAC that supports Suarez launched a digital ad blitz earlier Wednesday in the first four states that hold contests in the 2024 GOP presidential nominating calendar.

Suarez teased a run on "Fox News Sunday," saying he's going to make a "major announcement" in the coming weeks.  ...

Suarez's campaign announcement comes weeks after the Miami Herald reported that Suarez, who receives $130,000 in compensation to serve as mayor, is facing an ethics investigation for outside payments he received for private consulting.  ...

John Cardillo
@johncardillo
.@FrancisSuarez is a far left Dem who voted for Andrew Gillum.

He dishonestly puts an ‘R’ behind his name so he can grift off of Republicans.

It’s not a real presidential run. It’s a focus group to ID supporters he will then try to move over to the No Labels party.

Lighten up Francis.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

This is certainly a curve ball thrown into the race.

You are nuts.  Francis is a hack.  No way FL goes Rat because of some leftwing Beaner/Cuban Mayor in Miami thinks he is a contender.

Suarez voted for Hillary Clinton and Andrew Gillum. The WEF mayor is now "running for president" to be Trump's VP, after hiring Kellyanne Conway to be his consultant. Don't take the bait.

I’m at @Davos @wef proudly representing Miami and the efforts we’ve made as a city that made us #1 in post-pandemic recovery.
As the President of @usmayors, I’m looking for ways to replicate these successes not only across the country but also the world.

Mayor FrancisSuarez was pretty good for a first conversation on air about national security --except for the huge blind spot on the Uyghurs. "What's a Uyghur?" is not where I expect people running for president to say when asked about the ongoing genocide in China.

Ahh.  :silly:

Mayor Francis Suarez
@FrancisSuarez
Of course, I am well aware of the suffering of the Uyghurs in China. They are being enslaved because of their faith. China has a deplorable record on human rights and all people of faith suffer there.
I didn’t recognize the pronunciation my friend Hugh Hewitt used. That’s on me.

He has been making the rounds on FNC.  He's a real POS.

Miami Mayor Under Fire for $500,000 Donation From Flower Shop With Chinese Ties
Felipe Marques and Bill Allison
Tue, July 25, 2023 at 4:49 PM EDT·2 min read

(Bloomberg) -- Miami Mayor Francis Suarez received a $500,000 donation from an online flower shop that allegedly violated federal campaign financing laws, according to a complaint filed to the Federal Election Commission.

The 27-page complaint alleges “unknown persons” used PassionForest LLC, a less than year-old company that sells artificial flowers online, to conceal the true source of the contributions made to Suarez, according to the Campaign Legal Center, a nonpartisan watchdog group. The 45-year-old Republican mayor announced a long-shot presidential bid last month.

PassionForest operates mostly out of China, according to the complaint, suggesting “it may have been used to conceal illegal foreign national contributions.”

“PassionForest’s only known activity was selling artificial flowers on Amazon.com, supporting the conclusion that it could not have made a $500,000 contribution without someone else – the true contributor – providing it with funds for that purpose,” the Campaign Legal Center said in its complaint.

Suarez’s SOS America PAC received the $500,000 from PassionForest in October, according to fillings. ...
