Nearly half of voters said they do not want to see a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump and would consider voting for a third-party candidate if there is one.
A NewsNation and Decision Desk HQ poll showed that 23.38% of voters said they are very likely to consider a third-party candidate if there is a rematch between Biden and Trump in 2024, while 25.67% said they are somewhat likely to consider voting for a third-party candidate.
When asked about various possible third-party candidates for the 2024 presidential election, 20.60% said they would most likely vote for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), 10.25% said they would vote for former Wyoming GOP Rep. Liz Cheney, and 7.20% said they would most likely vote for Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV).
Biden is the most likely Democratic nominee for president in 2024, with very little challenge in the primary, whereas Trump leads a crowded Republican primary field.
Another finding in the poll is the continued unpopularity of Biden, with 54.24% of those surveyed saying they either somewhat or strongly disapprove of the president's job performance.
