Belgium to deliver 30 F-16 fighter aircraft

Belgium is committed to delivering 30 F-16 fighter jets by 2028 to assist Kyiv in countering Russia's invasion.

It is part of a security agreement Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.

The Ukrainian leader is on a two-day tour of Spain, Belgium and Portugal to drum up support for Kyiv.

This war will last a long time as long as we have a Democommie as POTUS, who insists on lining the pockets of the military industrial complex with hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars. 

Russia has an endless supply of 18 year olds who will lay their life down to stop Nazism, per Putin.  That is the political  rhetoric he provides to the general population, and 80+% of the people of Russia believe what Putin is doing is righteous. 

This is by far the most pointless and evil war in my lifetime.

The aftermath of a Ukrainian Himars strike on a Russian air defence system in Belgorod

Ukrainian troops have used US-supplied Himars missiles to destroy an advanced air defence system inside Russia, as the Kremlin warned Washington it could suffer “fatal consequences” for backing the cross-border attacks.

Several missiles are understood to have hit an air defence installation in the Russian city of Belgorod that was equipped with S-300/400 surface-to-air missiles.

Photos of the aftermath of the attack, which is believed to have happened on Sunday, show vehicles on fire and billowing out smoke.

On Monday, Sergei Ryabkov, Moscow’s deputy foreign minister, said that the US would face “fatal consequences” if it allowed Ukraine to use American weapons for attacks inside Russia.

The US has so far allowed Kyiv to hit targets within Russia only if they pose an immediate threat to Ukrainian forces.

It’s not clear if the strike on Belgorod breaches the limits the US has imposed on the weapons, but Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, has requested permission to use US munitions for long-range strikes.

That supply convoy lost quite a few trucks. The supplies might have been largely salvaged, but some of those trucks are lost, and others eating up valuable repair facility time (mission kill).

As long as Russia stages invaders' attacks on Russian soil, uses Russian soil to base rocket, missile, and artillery attacks, and uses Russian air space to launch missiles and glide bombs, those areas' military targets are fair game. If Russia doesn't want military targets attacked in Russia, all they have to do is withdraw their invaders from ALL Ukrainian territory.

Russa isn't winning the war it is already in. It has no ability to take on NATO other than with nukes. And with nukes they all die.

The Ukrainian army has launched a counterattack against the Russians north of Kharkiv. "We haven't seen this in months," says military analyst Mart de Kruif.

The former commander of the Land Forces does not yet want to speak of a counter-offensive. Oleg Zhdanov, former member of the Ukrainian General Staff, speaks of "offensive actions". It is likely that American and other foreign weapons were used as far away as Russia. Recently, countries, including the US, gave Ukraine the green light to do so.

The military actions are taking place north of Ukraine's second city, Kharkiv. The metropolis with about one million inhabitants is located about 40 kilometers from the Russian border. The Russians opened a new front there on May 10. The Ukrainians were then put on the defensive and had to give up several villages along the border.

Hard Fought
Last week, the Russian advance came to a halt. In the meantime, the Russians are being pushed back. Near the border town of Vovchansk (Volchansk in Russian) there is heavy fighting. Russian Telegram channels also state that the attackers have been cornered and that they have little defense against Ukrainian drones and artillery.  .  .

Ukhta is about 900 miles NE of Moscow, which is ~250 miles NE from Ukraine. The fire may be due to "incompetence" (is that a euphemism for drunkenness?), but it certainly inconveniences the fuel-thirsty war effort and the Russian economy generally.

The full name of the Russian city is Rostov on Don. Suchomimus has nicknamed it "Rostov on Drone", an obvious allusion.

What frequently happens with Russian tanks is they get disabled by a mine near battle lines, where neither Ukrainians nor Russians can recover the disabled tanks. The Russian crew skedaddles, not wanting to stay in a stationary target, leaving hatches open, and Ukrainians use drones to finish off the tanks, rendering them not worth recovering.

In early April, a Russian assault group attacked positions held by the Ukrainian 12th Azov Brigade outside Terny, just west of Kreminna in eastern Ukraine.

The assault ended in the usual way. Blasted by mines and harried by Ukrainian first-person-view drones, the Russian survivors abandoned their vehicles and fled back toward their own lines, a few hundred yards to the east.

What was special was what they left behind: a nearly intact—and brand-new—T-72B3M tank sporting one of the bulkiest and, in theory, most effective anti-drone radio jammers anyone had seen in Russia’s wider war on Ukraine.

The 12th Azov Brigade mounted a daring three-night mission to inspect, repair and recover the 51-ton T-72. Two months later, the two-year-old T-72 has been inspected, stripped of its jammers, fixed up, repainted with 12th Azov Brigade markings—and assigned to the same tank battalion that helped steal it.

It’s one of two captured T-72B3Ms in service with the 12th Azov Brigade. The Ukrainians have nicknamed it “Tsar Tank” or “Tsar E.W.”—for “electronic warfare.”

On the night of June 6, Ukrainian drones attacked the facilities of the fuel and energy complex (FEC) in two regions of Russia.

In the Rostov region, a drone hit an oil refinery (refinery) in Novoshakhtinsk, which caused a fire, said the governor of the region Vasily Golubev.

"According to preliminary data, the fire spread over an area of 50 square meters at the NZNP, about 120 people and 15 pieces of equipment were involved in the extinguishing," Golubev said. At the same time, due to the repeated attack of the drone, the fire extinguishing had to be stopped.

According to the Shot telegram channel, the attack took place at the beginning of the second night. Several loud explosions were heard in the city at once, after which eyewitnesses saw smoke and a pillar of fire in the area of the refinery.

Later, Golubev said that the fire at the refinery was localized on an area of 100 square meters.

Prior to that, the Novoshakhtinsk refinery was attacked by Ukrainian drones in March. Then, due to the strikes, the technological facilities of the enterprise were stopped. Two more attacks on the plant occurred in June 2022 and May 2023.

In turn, in the Belgorod region, a Ukrainian kamikaze drone attacked an oil depot near Stary Oskol, said the governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov. "As a result of the explosion, one of the tanks caught fire. Four fire crews promptly extinguished the fire. The blast wave shattered the windows in the security building. There were no casualties," Gladkov said.

Over the past month, at least five Russian refineries have been subjected to drone attacks. So, on May 9, a drone attacked the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat enterprise in the city of Salavat in Bashkiria. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the building of the pumping station was damaged.  .  .
