Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, facing a potentially historic migrant surge once the Title 42 public health order ends in less than a week, made a final plea for migrants not to attempt to cross into the U.S. illegally -- telling them they are being "deceived" by smugglers.

"The border is not open," Mayorkas said. "It has not been open, and it will not be open subsequent to May 11th. And the smugglers who exploit vulnerable migrants are spreading misinformation. They are spreading false information, lies in a way to lure vulnerable people to the southern border and those individuals will only be returned."

Mayorkas spoke in Brownsville, Texas alongside Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz just days before the Title 42 order will expire on Thursday.  The public health order was implemented in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and millions of migrants have been rapidly expelled back to Mexico under the order for public health reasons. In March, 46% of all encounters resulted in a Title 42 expulsion.

Mayorkas: ‘Not Worried About Title 42’ Ending — ‘The Border Is Secure Because We Are Maximizing Our Resources’ for ‘Most Effective Results’

During portions of an interview with NBC News Homeland Security Correspondent Julia Ainsley aired on Friday’s broadcast of “NBC Nightly News,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he is “not worried about” the expiration of Title 42 and that the Department of Homeland Security has planned and executed on its plans. Mayorkas also argued that “The border is secure because we are maximizing our resources to deliver the most effective results to our border with the most extraordinary workforce in the world.”

Ainsley asked, “Are you worried about Title 42 lifting next week?”

Mayorkas answered, “I’m not worried about Title 42 lifting. We recognize the challenge at the border.”

TX Border Sheriff: Border Isn’t Secure, Feds ‘Do Not Have Control’ in ‘a Lot of Places’

During portions of an interview with NBC News aired on Friday’s broadcast of “NBC Nightly News, Hidalgo County, TX Sheriff Eddie Guerra (D) stated that the U.S.-Mexico border is not secure and that in “a lot of places” along the southern  border, “our federal partners do not have control.”

NBC News Homeland Security Correspondent Julia Ainsley asked, “Is our border secure?”

Guerra responded, “Well, I can tell you no.”

Guerra also said, “There [are] a lot of places on the southwestern border that the — our federal partners do not have control.”

Earlier in the segment, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas maintained that the southern border “is secure because we are maximizing our resources to deliver the most effective results to our border with the most extraordinary workforce in the world.”

Brandon and Company do NOT have control of the border.  Wait till the 700,000+ invade and they're not going to be just stomping through TX they will travel all over.  Keep in mind that this will be in addition to the millions he's already let in.  There will be many more -- what's to stop them.
