God forbid people try to protect themselves or others these days.

If the police have arrived 5 minutes earlier this man would have been labeled as a hero.

He might not be a hero now but we don't need another George Floyd because Saint George had similar history too and the CIA used him to make a huge operation!

Ocasio-Cortez says death of man on subway was ‘murder’
by Stephen Neukam - 05/04/23 9:35 AM ET

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) weighed in on the death of a man in New York who was placed in a headlock by another subway passenger, saying the man “was murdered.”

The death of Jordan Neely, 30, has sparked outrage online, with footage showing him on the floor of the train in a headlock by a U.S. Marine veteran, who tackled him after the man was shouting at other passengers.

The city’s medical examiner has classified his death as homicide and the manner as chokehold, though said it would leave any determination on culpability to the legal system.

“Jordan Neely was murdered,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Wednesday. “But bc Jordan was houseless and crying for food in a time when the city is raising rents and stripping services to militarize itself while many in power demonize the poor, the murderer gets protected w/ passive headlines + no charges.”

Neely, who was homeless, was reported to have been behaving aggressively toward other subway passengers when the 24-year-old Marine veteran put him in a headlock while another passenger held him to the ground. Video of the altercation has circulated online, and medical responders could not resuscitate Neely at the scene.

Adams blasts AOC for calling Marine who subdued hostile homeless man in chokehold a ‘murderer’
May 4, 2023 | Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

New York City Mayor Eric Adams excoriated Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Wednesday for branding a former Marine as a “murderer” after he subdued an unstable homeless man named Jordan Neely on a subway by using a chokehold that ultimately resulted in his death.

Adams called Ocasio-Cortez “irresponsible” for her comments on the incident which started a war of words between the two Democrats.

Neely, 30, was known to many subway riders for his Michael Jackson impersonations. The Daily Mail is reporting that he had a breakdown after his mother was killed. He reportedly had a history of mental issues.

Neely’s father, Andre Zachery, told the New York Daily News that his son had become a “complete mess” after his mother was strangled to death by his stepfather in 2007. He evidently had a major mental breakdown after that.

As protesters gathered on the New York City subway system after Neely’s death, Ocasio-Cortez incited them even further by claiming that the homeless black man was “murdered.” Her words came after the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide but no decision has been made on whether to press charges against the Marine yet. That decision will be made by the district attorney’s office.

One thing that everyone is missing about the Jordan Neely case: We still don’t know exactly how he died.

Another passenger helped the ex-marine hold Neely down because he was unhinged and the chokehold appeared to be non-lethal. Everyone was surprised that Neely somehow died.

This may very well be a George Floyd-esque example of a man who had a potentially lethal amount of drugs in his system being physically unstable and thus being unable to simply lose consciousness without dying.

Well, we won't know if the deceased was taking drugs until the tox screen, if then.
I did notice there were black "racists" helping restrain the guy.

Sometimes a public safety issue is simply that, with no other motive than to stop a present danger to others.

Eleven people were murdered on the NYC subway last year. You do not know any of their names. Over 400 people were murdered citywide. You do not know any of their names. @AOC did not pretend to care about them. There were no protests of any kind. That's all you need to know.

‘Not The Right Thing To Do’: NYC Mayor Adams Calls AOC Irresponsible For Tweets About Subway Chokehold Killing
Story by Caleb Howe • 4h ago

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said tweets sent by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez this week were irresponsible and “not the right thing to do,” after a homeless man was killed in a subway altercation on Monday.

The victim, Jordan Neely, was killed when the man he was fighting with put him a chokehold and held him in it until he lost consciousness, according to reports. Disturbing video of the altercation was shared online by passengers.

The death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner late Wednesday night. Before that, Ocasio-Cortez and other public figures spoke out on social media about the incident.

The congresswoman attacked the New York Times and the Mayor over the incident, calling it a murder, blaming the city’s law enforcement and Adams‘ “tough on crime” stance, and attacking “passive headlines” and more. ...

The narrative is that a "young boy" named Jordan Neely was lynched on the subway in New York CIty.
Jordan Neely's prior record included 42 prior arrests between 2013 and 2021, including four for assault and others for less severe charges. At the time of his death, he had one active warrant for assault.
Multiple members of Congress and politicians are calling on the public to take action against the Good Samaritan, a U.S. Marine, whose actions contributed to the death of Jordan Neely.
And they want accountability against him without a trial.
In the court of public opinion, he has been tried and found guilty of lynching, of being a racist, a terrorist, and a bigot, who murdered and executed a young boy whose favorite pastimes were impersonating Michael Jackson and busking for food.
Mob rule. This is the true face of "liberal democracy."

NYC subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely probed by 'senior' prosecutors as protesters clash with police
Video shows Marine vet allegedly kill mentally ill homeless man Jordan Neely with a chokehold on NYC subway

By Rebecca Rosenberg | Fox News

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Wednesday that "senior, experienced prosecutors" are investigating the subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely as violent clashes with police erupted Wednesday in New York City.

Neely, 30, was reportedly having a mental episode on the F train Monday, yelling and pacing back and forth, when a U.S. Marine veteran tackled him to the ground and put him in a chokehold, according to witnesses and police.

Two other straphangers helped restrain him, and video that captured part of the encounter shows Neely, a Michael Jackson impersonator, slowly go limp then die.

The city's medical examiner determined that the manner of death was homicide caused by compression of the neck.

NYC straphanger who choked man to death could face involuntary manslaughter charge: legal experts

By Steve Janoski
May 3, 2023

The New York City straphanger who was caught on video putting a disturbed homeless man in a deadly chokehold this week could be prosecuted — although for what charges would likely depend on how threatened subway riders felt beforehand, legal experts said Wednesday.

Criminal defense attorneys and former prosecutors suggested the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office — should it choose to bring charges against the 24-year-old Marine over Jordan Neely’s death Monday — could possibly make the argument for raps of manslaughter of criminally negligent homicide.

But several factors would need to be taken into account before prosecutors can even determine there was criminal liability.

“It really depends, I suppose, on the danger that he posed to the other passengers,” Jeffrey Lichtman, the defense attorney who’s represented Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and John Gotti Jr., said of Neely, 30, who went on a boisterous rant just before he was choked out and killed on an F train.

“I think what the DA is going to do is talk to the people who were there, and they’re going to find out exactly what kind of legitimate threat the guy posed,” Lichtman told The Post.

Straphanger who put Jordan Neely in fatal chokehold hires DA Bragg’s former rival as attorney
By Larry Celona and
Emily Crane
May 4, 2023 6:33pm

The Marine who was filmed putting mentally ill homeless man Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold on a subway has lawyered up — hiring Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s former rival to represent him, The Post has learned.

The straphanger, whose name hasn’t been released publicly, retained criminal defense attorney Thomas Kenniff — potentially setting up another showdown with Bragg should the DA’s office bring charges in Neely’s death.

Kenniff, a Republican, notably lost out to Bragg, his Democrat counterpart, in the race for Manhattan DA in 2021.

The Iraq War veteran and major in the Army National Guard — a former Westchester prosecutor and founding partner of Raiser & Kenniff — didn’t want to comment on his new client on Thursday.

His client — identified by police sources as a 24-year-old from Queens — was taken into custody after Monday’s deadly encounter but was released without charges.

The DA’s office, as part of its probe, is now weighing whether to bring criminal charges against him over Neely’s death, which has been ruled a homicide.

A spokesman for Bragg confirmed the probe was ongoing Thursday.

“As part of our rigorous ongoing investigation, we will review the Medical Examiner’s report, assess all available video and photo footage, identify and interview as many witnesses as possible, and obtain additional medical records,” the rep said in a Wednesday evening statement.

Typical fake liberal tears for a worthless person who was begging to die an early death from some cause for many years.
Of course, if it were a black person choking a violent, mentally ill white person to death, you'd hear crickets.
I'm just sick of the whole thing. The governor of NY is a supreme creepette for her remarks.

NYC subway choking victim Jordan Neely: What we know

When: May 1, 2023

Who: Jordan Neely, 30, a homeless man was fatally strangled aboard a northbound F train just before 2:30 p.m., according to police.

He reportedly started acting erratically on the train and harassing other passengers before being restrained and ultimately choked by a straphanger, identified as a 24-year-old marine from Queens.

The marine, who was seen on video applying the chokehold, was taken into custody and later released but the DA is mulling charges, which could include involuntary manslaughter, according to experts.

Fallout: The city medical examiner ruled Neely’s death a homicide, noting he died due to “compression of neck (chokehold).” This will be weighed during the investigation into whether charges will be brought for Neely’s death.

Protests planned in NYC as DA considers charges in subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely

Quote

NOHO, Manhattan (WABC) -- Protests are set for Friday after the death of a subway rider, who was put into a chokehold on the train, was ruled a homicide.

Both the family of the man who died, 30-year-old Jordan Neely, and the unidentified Marine veteran who subdued him, have retained lawyers.

Protestors at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn called for accountability on Thursday as the NYPD has issued a call for public help in their investigation.

Activists demanded that charges be filed against the 24-year-old Marine veteran at the center of the disturbing video of Neely in a chokehold. That video shows Neely on the floor of a northbound F train.

What happened to Jordan Neely is a city’s failure to police subways and treat mentally ill

Quote

Before going any further let’s just say what every New Yorker knows. The city’s subway is unsafe. Every New Yorker knows it. Every New Yorker talks about it. Everyone has a story about it.

Those who are able to find other routes around the city do. Most women I know won’t use it after dark. And even in the middle of the day you see sights that just aren’t normal. But they’ve become normal here. We just got used to it.

We got used to the homeless people using the subway to keep warm or dry. We got used to mentally ill people screaming at cars full of people. We got used to people high on legal or illegal drugs staggering around.

And we got used to looking down — staring intently into our phones and hoping it would go away.

Jordan Neely kidnapped and dragged a 7 year-old girl down the street and got sentenced to 4 months in jail.
How does this happen? Contrary to what liberals think, it's really hard to end up in jail. The people there are generally scum of the earth. And so are many not in jail.

Legal Expert Tells CNN Jordan Neely’s 42 Arrests Should Not Factor Into His Death
Julio Rosas

Jillian Snider, policy director for R Street's Criminal Justice and Civil Liberties, told CNN on Friday Jordan Neely's extensive criminal history should not factor in how he died because no one involved in the incident was aware about it.

Neely was put in a chokehold and subdued by passengers in New York City's subway system after he was screaming and threatening people on the train. He died after police and EMS arrived on scene. The man who had Neely in the chokehold is a Marine veteran and so far has not been charged with anything, though Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office is investigating.

"...Neely, which, obviously, this Marine wouldn’t have known this, had 42 arrests and also had three assaults between 2019 and 2021 on the subway for unprovoked attacks in the subway on females. How does that factor into how this is viewed?" CNN host Kaitlan Collins asked.

"It shouldn’t, because at the time of the incident no one knew Mr. Neely’s background, no one knew he had any kind of criminal history. Again, we can speculate now, oh, he had issues, he had 42 arrests, he was charged with assault on the subway system, but again, that’s all after the fact. So I don’t think that should be weighed in right now," said Snider, a former NYC police officer.

That's a reasonable position.  The question is whether his conduct at the time of the incident justified the actions that were taken against him; not whether he was a bad person generally and therefore in some abstract sense "deserved" what he got.

Marine who put Jordan Neely in chokehold on NYC subway identified as Daniel Penny
By Craig McCarthy
May 5, 2023 11:58am

The Marine who fatally choked Jordan Neely on an NYC subway this week is 24-year-old Daniel Penny, The Post has confirmed.

Penny — who has not been criminally charged — was captured on camera putting Neely, a 30-year-old homeless man, in a chokehold on the F train just before 2:30 p.m. Monday at a Lower Manhattan subway stop.

The West Islip man, whose name started to circulate on Twitter overnight, served as an infantry squad leader and an instructor in water survival while in the Marines Corps from 2017 to 2021, according to his online resume.

The moral of the Jordan Neely story isn’t complicated: he was a habitual offender who should’ve been behind bars or in a mental institution, not free to terrorize New Yorkers. This is what happens when local police aren’t allowed to do their jobs.

US Marine accused in NYC subway chokehold death could face charges next week: source
Jordan Neely died Monday on a subway car in Manhattan from compression of the neck

A New York City grand jury could begin weighing charges against a former U.S. Marine for the subway chokehold death of Jordan Neely as early as next week, a law enforcement source told Fox News Digital.

The veteran was captured on viral cellphone video holding the erratic 30-year-old homeless man in a headlock Monday on a northbound F train until he lost consciousness and died.

Neely, who suffered from mental illness, allegedly stormed into the subway car at around 2:30 p.m.and began yelling aggressively at other passengers.

"He said he had no food, he had no drink, that he was tired and doesn't care if he goes to jail," freelance journalist Juan Alberto Vazquez told the New York Post.

I hate to say it, but now may be a good time for this young man to flee the country.

I wonder what other passengers on the subway think given that there has been so much violence.

I'm not talking about the SJWs protesting and waving signs.

We shall see.  Their testimony will be very important in determining whether Mr. Penny's actions were reasonable under the circumstances.

@Kamaji
Given that this is NYC and almost all of them have no choice but to ride the subway in the future, they are not going to say anything if they can help it.

I tend to agree on principle.
NY will try to crucify him.

But as an alternative, I think Mr. Penny ought to quietly (and quickly) relocate to the state of Florida.

Let's see what Mr. DeSantis will do to protect him.
I realize the options are limited, but they'll be better than he's facing now.

Far-left Dems accused of trying to 'provoke a mob' in NYC: 'Throwing matches in a tinderbox'
Douglas Murray says on 'Outnumbered' AOC and others are ramping up rhetoric after death of Jordan Neely

By Fox News Staff | Fox News

Fox News contributor Douglas Murray criticized the left's reaction to an incident on the New York City subway in which a homeless man was killed. Murray said on "Outnumbered" that some Democrats, like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley, want to "provoke mobs."

DOUGLAS MURRAY: Of course, people like Nikole Hannah-Jones, like AOC, like a number of members of the Squad and others. You actually have to ask what they want when they do this thing, when they ramp up the rhetoric like this. To describe what happened as a lynching, as a public execution, to make all of these claims is like seeing people standing beside what they know to be a tinderbox and just like striking matches and throwing them into it to see what catches.

@mystery-ak

First of all,his death was accidental, and provoked by his own actions.

Secondly,a black man helped the former Marine,a white man, subdue the lunatic, who was out of control.

Finally,he was a threat to EVERYBODY on that subway train, white, black,Asian, and mixed.

I will grant you that it a major way it was more the fault of the legal system in NYC than it was his fault, because he was insane at the time and therefore, not responsible for his own actions.

The people who are at fault are the mental health professionals and the judiciary in NYC that kept releasing him to the public. If you want to find fault, look THERE.

We cannot coexist with these people... don't you guys see it?

Basically they want blacks to do whatever they want to whites, without repercussions. How many blacks killed in Chicago in the last month, with not 1/100th of this outrage. All with the complicity of the media.

There's no coexisting with these people. They won't stop until we're all dead, period.

We can coexist. But black Americans have to be bluntly told that they're not only not special, they're overall a huge drag on the country economically and civilly.
The black (Dem) pols like Pressley are the worst who say zip about the hundreds of white people actually murdered by blacks annually while screeching racism about a black nutcase who got himself deceased through his own insane actions.
Few people have the guts to tell blacks what an overall problem they are for the country.

@goatprairie

That may be,and probably still is,true of a lot of blacks that were born and raised in big-city ghettos, but is NOT true of rural blacks.

I have lived in big cities,if you will accept Denver as a big city,as well as in rural areas, and I can tell you the difference between both the white and black denizens is completely different than those of both white and black people who live in rural areas. I have now been living in this one rural area since around 1975,and have YET to have ANY  sort of problem with anyone that lives around me,including the blacks. We don's socialize at the same parties or date each other's sisters much, but that doesn't mean we don't help each other when help is needed.

WHO your neighbors are is much more important than their skin color in rural areas.

I wish I had some sort of answer to the racial problems in cities, but I don't. The left had been radicalizing the blacks in the cities since at least the 1930's,and that is not going to go away anytime soon.

And,of course, bigotry from the blacks results in bigotry from the whites, and it becomes a human perpetual motion machine of hatred that flows in both directions.

BTW,practically  everybody I know uses the "N word" when talking with other whites, but this doesn't stop them from helping local blacks when they need help. I suspect the local blacks all use the "honkey" or "cracka" words when talking about whites amongst themselves, but just like the whites, they will help their neighbors regardless of their race if they need help.

It may not be "Paradise Found",but it sure seems to work to most everyone's satisfaction.

BTW,the last couple of years that I lived in Denver,I lived in a "Mexican" neighborhood, and was one of the few whites living there. I only had trouble a couple of times, and even then it was with drunken Mexicans who didn;t live in that neighborhood, but had girlfriends who did. I ran both of them off,and expected trouble, but had neighbors actually thank me for chasing them off. They couldn't do it themselves due to family connections.

I will admit that putting a 12 gauge barrel inside their ears and telling them to do what they thought best had a lot to do with them deciding to leave and not come back, and I will also confess to being as serious as a heart attack about blowing their bleeping heads off if they made the wrong decisions. When I am standing out in the street, barefoot and in my drawers at 1 AM during a snow storm,I am mad enough you need to listen closely to what I am telling you.

Never had one single moment of trouble with any of the locals, though. In fact, they were very friendly and helpful to me,including one time during a blizzard I got home around midnight and discovered my cat was stuck on someone's roof and freezing to death. There were several neighbors out in the yard trying to get her off the roof by calling her. We finally got a water hose and blasted her off the roof, and I then took her in the house and dried her off. NONE of these people were obligated in ANY  way to help me or the cat,but they knew it was my cat and they WANTED to help me. Those were good neighbors as well as good people.

I doubt you'll see this update in the media, because the media wants to stoke hatred and ignite riots in order to make money off it.

Seems like key details to leave out.

The protesters can go ahead and burn the city down. But the Marine should not be charged. I still want to know what really happened after the medical services people took charge.

Why should it be any different then the rest of the Democrat enclaves.
