Air National Guardsman led online group where US documents leaked: report

A 21-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard is the leader of the small online gaming group where a batch of classified intelligence documents leaked, according to The New York Times.

The Times reported Thursday that the national guardsman is a member of the branch’s intelligence wing in the state and was the head of the private online group “Thug Shaker Central” where the documents leaked over the last few months.

The newspaper reported that the documents gained broader attention after a member of the group took several dozen of them and shared them to a different forum online that was public.

The Hill has not independently confirmed the identity of the individual who reportedly led the group where the documents were first posted.

The FBI declined to comment to the Times for its report.

US OFFICIALS are investigating the leader of an online forum where a massive trove of Pentagon documents was leaked.

Jack Teixeira, 21, is a member of the intelligence wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, reports The New York Times.

He oversaw an online group called Thug Shaker Central where approximately 30 people - mostly young men and teens - shared a love of guns, racist memes and games.

Two US officials reportedly confirmed investigators want to talk to Teixeira about the leak.

Teixeira has not been officially named as a suspect.

He is enlisted in the 102nd Intelligence Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

The head of a Discord group where a trove of sensitive US intelligence documents were posted online has been identified as a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman named Jack Teixeira, according to a new report.

The New York Times first reported Teixeira’s identity Thursday, adding that investigators want to talk to him about the leak and say that he may have information relevant to the investigation.

Separately, the Wall Street Journal reported that an arrest in the case could happen as soon as Thursday.

The fast-moving developments followed a report by the Washington Post late Wednesday that the classified files were shared to a Discord channel called “Thug Shaker Central.”

The Times reported Thursday that Teixeira’s online gaming profile links him to other members of the channel.

For the last 40 years people have been gently programmed to say virtually anything about themselves. From "what have you got to hide?" to "sharing is caring" to social media, the populace has willingly peeled back any layers of discretion to the point where the idea of discretion, let alone a secret, is almost alien to them.

I once asked a granddaughter to remove a facebook posted image that showed the interior of my home, and had to explain to her that people might use that to decide to steal things. I relented enough to let her post close shots, but not wide ones, and she understood why after I explained it. For the most part, though, people have no idea how much they give away.

With no sense of what is "secret", and apparent disdain for Classified materials exhibited by politicians and others in all three branches of government, is it any wonder that sensitive information gets posted online?

But yeah, someone in 'intelligence' is either running a disinformation campaign, or should have known better.

FBI makes arrest as classified document investigation focuses on Air National Guardsman

FBI agents have made an arrest in their investigation into leaked classified documents, Fox News has learned, as the bureau focuses on a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman.

Police vehicles were seen at a Massachusetts location believed to be connected with the guardsman. The guardsman's security clearance and access to classified government systems have been revoked, according an internal government document reviewed by Fox News.

The National Guard said in a statement it is aware Thursday of the "alleged role a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman may have played in the recent leak of highly-classified documents" from the Pentagon.

"The National Guard takes this issue very seriously and will support investigators," the National Guard said in a statement. "National security is our foremost priority and any attempt to undermine it compromises our values and degrades trust among our members, the public, allies and partners.

Weirdest thing about this 21-year-old Air National Guardsman on Cape Cod being arrested as the intel leaker is he had no agenda with US, Russia, Ukraine--he just wanted to impress his young friends in a chat group. And took an enormous risk that's now caught up with him
