Biden's digital strategy: an army of influencers

Sophia Cai
April 9, 2023

President Biden's not-yet-official bid for re-election will lean on hundreds of social media "influencers" who will tout Biden's record — and soon may have their own briefing room at the White House, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: The move aims to boost Biden's standing among young voters who are crucial to Democrats' success in elections — and to potentially counter former President Trump's massive social media following, if he's the GOP nominee in 2024.

* Biden's digital strategy team will connect with influencers across the nation to target those who may not follow the White House or Democratic Party on social media — or who have tuned out mainstream media altogether.

* Four Biden digital staffers are focused on influencers and independent content creators. The staffers officially work for the White House, not Biden's campaign — but reaching young and suburban voters is clearly a priority.

* Young voters (ages 18-29) preferred Biden over Trump by a 26-point margin in 2020, and Democrats over Republicans by 28 points in the 2022 midterms.

* A measure of the importance Team Biden is placing on its digital strategy: Rob Flaherty, who leads the effort, has been named assistant to the president — the same rank as the White House communications director and press secretary.

The social media influencers Joe Biden will be employing to help him win in 2024 include 20-year-old Harry Sisson, who has over 600K followers on TikTok. Presumably, he will have full access to the WH briefing room.

This isn't news.  The democrats --- coordinated through the White House --- used this very effectively in the midterms.

Let’s be clear about what’s happening here.
The Biden admin is giving press credentials to influencers on TikTok — Beijing’s Trojan Horse app — to boost Biden’s re-elect campaign.
And we’re supposed to believe Biden would ban TikTok if given the chance?

Karine Jean-Pierre says “here at the White House we very often use influencers.” Considering one of their big guns is a 20-year-old with the intellectual capacity of a turnip, it's fair to state this is not a serious administration.

The army of influencers is a clear 2024 Presidental Campaign activity that should not use Federal funds, Federal Property, nor Federal personnel.

This would be a violation of the Hatch act.

Government resources are not allowed to be used for political campaigns and personnel are not allowed to participate in campaigns during the hours they are working for the Government.

If Members of Congress can dinged for abusing franking privileges for their campaigns, Biden should be dinged for his army of 2024 Campaign influencers on White House grounds.

UPDATE 10/5/24

Sissy Harry has considerable access to the administration. So, of course, does his bank account.

🚨Open Records Reveal: Harry Sisson Not Only Received Coaching and Scripts for His Interview with Secretary of State Blinken, But Has CONTINUED to Receive Scripts for TikTok from the Secretary of State as Recently as October 2024 🚨

In April 2024, I released requested records from the Office of Governor Josh Shapiro. The records reveal texts, emails and correspondence between the Governor’s office, Harry Sisson and Palette Media. We already know Harry is being paid.  This was proven repeatedly by myself and MULTIPLE others, I didn't aim to keep rehashing the worn-out issue of Harry's compensation. The records I obtained don’t just prove he was paid, but that his “interviews” are not organic.  He is a used, coached puppet by the left with little to zero original thought. Every question is scripted, coached and timed.  And when Sisson wanted to ask his own questions, he had to receive approval from Shapiro’s staff. This reveal was received with outrage from the left and right alike.

As you can see in a video screen of Harry’s live, he desperately attempted to discredit my report. He stated that he was never coached and that it was all a conspiracy theory. Even though my records came straight from the office of Shapiro.

My records also revealed that there are serious legal implications to how Sisson and many other influencers are operating. The courts have upheld disclosure laws over and over again.  With the general consensus being that “disclaimers provide critical information about advertising sources so that the electorate can more effectively judge the arguments they hear” (FEC website).

I will attach my prior post on Sisson and Shapiro in the thread. It is an important part of my release today. Why? Because NOW officials have started COVERING for Harry. The official letter sent to me, along with the Sisson file, made it clear that redactions would be made because of what the office of the Secretary of State called “foreseeable harm”.  (What harm? EXPOSURE?)

What was redacted?

👉👉Harry’s SCRIPTS were redacted.

The following thread contains the full file I received.  The records show that this goes much deeper than Harry Sisson. The file shows that TikTok creators are being used to influence the election, with zero disclosure. Certain narratives such as “h@m@s is being asked to ceasefire” and that the “Ukraine War is a LONG war”.

Also an interesting side-note, William Russo, the Assistant  Secretary Bureau of Global Public Affairs, went on sabbatical in April 2024, directly after these records were requested.  ...

I sense that there currently is at least one "paid influencer" (from the other side) on duty in the forum.

There have been talented "disruptors" in the past.
Not sure if sinkspur was "on the payroll" or not, but he did his job and did it well.
I'm STILL wondering what happened to him...
