U.S. Navy Announces Aircraft and All-Female Crews for Super Bowl Flyover

F-35C Lightning II, Two F/A-18F Super Hornets and an EA-18G Growler to Open Super Bowl LVII.
The U.S. Navy has announced that an all-female flight crew will conduct the four aircraft formation flyover during the national anthem at the opening of Super Bowl LVII this Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
The aircraft performing the national anthem flyover will be an F-35C Lightning II from U.S. Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 97 (VFA- 97), the “Warhawks”; two F/A-18F Super Hornets of Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 122 (VFA-122), the “Flying Eagles”; and one EA- 18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft from Electronic Attack Squadron 129 (VAQ-129), the “Vikings”.

The U.S. Navy said in an official release that, “These aircraft represent the strike and electronic attack capability of the Carrier Air Wing of the Future, providing advanced technology and enhanced flexibility to our military combatant commanders.”
An all-female flight crew was selected for the flyover to commemorate the 50th anniversary of women flying in the U.S. Navy.
