Biden, the oldest president, reaches out to the oldest voters

President Joe Biden claiming Republicans are contemplating cuts to Social Security and Medicare could help the country's oldest president with a demographic that has been slipping away from Democrats.

Biden's return to Florida this week underscored his criticism of Sen. Rick Scott's (R-FL) proposal to reconsider the entitlement programs every five years but also his outreach efforts to seniors, with whom Republicans have traditionally appealed, amid 2024 reelection speculation.

Republicans have consistently performed well among seniors for the past few decades, according to University of South Florida emeritus government professor Darryl Paulson, mostly because voters aged 65 and older prefer low local, state, and federal government taxes.

"That is especially true in a state like Florida, which was the one state that went overwhelmingly Republican in the face of generally strong Democratic showing in the 2020 election," he told the Washington Examiner. "With the South or Sunbelt becoming increasingly identified as the home of retirees, seniors support low taxes and minimal government services."

Thank you, Senator Rick Scott.
