Watching episodes of "The Virginian" on a regular basis. Didn't watch it much back in the day because my father didn't like it much. When I did see I liked it (I liked all westerns
), but I didn't get to see many.
Even the early episodes were filmed in color. And the color resolution was very good. Many color shows from the sixties and even the seventies had poor color resolution. The big shift from black and white to color for most tv shows occurred in the mid-sixties.
Maybe NBC just had better people doing that than CBS or ABC. I believe NBC was the first major network to start color tv back in the fifties.
BTW. the theme from The Virginian has been going through my head all day. Fortunately, I like the theme music.
