Haven't been to a lot of places, but I've never put much stock in being touristy. Not that I don't like to travel, but where I've lived and what I did there is alot more important to me.

People will say something like 'I've been to Paris'. Yeah, on a 4 hour layover and never left the airport. I like to ground and immerse myself in the situation and spend some time there doing the local stuff, not just hitting the traps. Way more fulfilling.

@ChemEngrMBA

@240B did not address you personally.  Just sayin'.

Who was he addressing when he said "Stupid thread"?

Such an ignorant personal attack is unwarranted and should be a violation of the TOS if it is not already.

Don't you mean to say, 'What' was he addressing?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

I say the same of Detroit.

But I have traveled extensively in France - too many places to list.

Cosmically, I have been to the Heights of Heaven and to the Depths of Hell and more importantly, I took the scenic route.  It has made me a better person, overall, but I also could be wrong.

I've had the good fortune to have lived and worked in many places on this globe but regardless of where I happened to be at any given time, that was indeed the pattern @berdie .
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Go Fish!

I never had a bucket list, but can't think of many places I would want to go but have not toured.

My goal at one time my was to go to Bali @Gefn . But since I won't fly any more, I don't see myself paddling there. happy77

There are so many places in the US that I would love to see.

I briefly considered having a bucket list, but then decided it wasn't worth the effort. At this point, I've been where I need to have been. If I get to visit a few more places, that'll be nice. If I get to the few places I'd like to visit this year, I'll be happy. There's nothing like skydiving, whitewater rafting or swimming with dolphins on the list, so I'm good.

At this point I can think of no place on this planet that I would be willing to get on a plane to visit so I will only be traveling to places I can drive to.

I may never again board an airplane, much as I love visiting where my ancestors came from, e.g., England, Germany, Wales. I'm somewhat resigned to that. The federal government has made travel a very unpleasant experience.

As long as we still can purchase gasoline (!!!), we'll travel within driving distance.
