Nope. Not up in here. Try and follow an azimuth up in here, and soon enough you'll have a mountain in your way... And I mean a mountain too... not them little hills y'all have back in Appalachia.

Up in here it is all guardrails and backstops, and knowing the land... And prolly following the water down till you find civilization.
Going downhill is a good way to go, normally, though out that way some of the valleys are real steep, and there isn't much room to walk next to the water. It sure isn't like on the prairie, where the sky looks like you could fall in on a clear night.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. Yup... Them's the breaks... But ravines invariably run into valleys, and valleys have people.

And by the way, I would DIE on the plains. I navigate by landmark, and out by you, other than the badlands, landmarks might be clean over the horizon. I can make do with a compass, but it's really not my thing. No Google And GPS is sketchy.

Just keep walking east or west.  Eventually, you'll come across a landmark.

Yep. Piece of cake.  Just remember that light in the distance could be 10 miles off.

Like a milo field in a sea of corn?

Just seeing those Rockies disappearing in the rear view makes me itch. No thanks, I'll stick to the mountains.

Unlike corn, most of what grows here can be seen over. Less chance of going in circles. Keep the sun on one side of you through the day (it's always in the south), and use the North Star by night. But you'd be surprised how many prairie trails and dirt roads there are out here

The flattest place I've ever been was East Colorado.

Weld county and east can be pretty flat, but the flattest place I have been is the Red River Valley of the North in Eastern North Dakota/Western Minnesota.

The area was a lake during the Ice Age (Glacial Lake Aggasiz) and the lake bottom is the current ground surface. It is flatter than the open ocean, because the ocean conforms to the general curvature of the planet. IIRC early microwave transmission experiments were carried out there because the line of sight there is one of the longest on the planet.

The Utah Salt Flats rate pretty flat, too.

Apparently, though, Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia (a salt flat) is the flattest place on Earth.

To heck with the North Star. I'm looking for @roamer_1 so he can lead me out of there.

When I was 15, I tried identifying as an 18-year-old to purchase beer at convenience stores.

When I was 18 I tried identifying as a 21-year-old for exactly the same reason.  Managed to get away with it, too!

@libertybele

I quit drinking and smoking in the early 70's. I blame my recent heart attack on alcohol and tobacco.

Ah needs me a lawyur!

 A good lawyer.  You quit both a long time ago. It's hard to tell @sneakeypete

Mine was from lots of stress (high cholesterol didn't help) They told me I needed to re-program my mind.  Sure thing doc!/s  I'm high energy -- something I've never been able to change.  I am who I am.

Seriously though for now, concentrate on you and take it easy.

A lot of vaccinated people are getting heart attacks now.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.
