No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

I recall seeing a 'jungle' video a few years back, where the natives caught and roasted those critters on a fire, broke 'em open and ate the meat, saying they were somewhat like crab...

On our last well the rig hands thought it would be fun to catch a tarantula.  They put it in a box and fed it crickets...lol.  Since I was in the doghouse with them I walked over and taped the box shut, as I didn't want the thing to escape.  It wasn't as big as the one in your picture but about the size of a tennis ball and was black.

Tarantulas are why we train our young Scouts to zip up their tents when camping in the desert...I watched one casually walk over my foot by the campfire.

Bats are also a bit of a pest.

I hear scorpions light up a pretty neat blue under a black light, too.

In Arizona, scorpions are like roaches. They are everywhere. They do glow under fluorescent/black light. They really light up like neon. While in Sedona, happened to see a tarantula migration or mating or something. There were hundreds of them in a herd crossing the road in the moonlight.

So an evening under the glow of a blue bug zapper light is replaced by black light and a BB gun?

I could go for that, so long as the beer is still cold.  happy77

That could be fun with a pellet pistol and glow at night sights...

I'd bet the stingers would still be active for a while after the critter gets it, though (forget wandering barefoot).

Maybe. But the common scorpion is small and light colored. They are not like the scorpions you see on TV. Most of them are about an inch and a half. Could be a hard shot with a BB gun. Yea, but with the right booze it would be alright.

That's the (multi) colored version of that season. There's a(n all) white one, too.

We have three seasons here. White, brown, and green.

We've had a long, rich, green, and I'd bet brown will be short, and White will hit with a vengeance. (Apple trees are heavily laden, all the berries and wild plums were heavy, too, and I have never had a tomato crop like this year's. The Lord provides for His critters, and humans, too, if they are paying attention. Good crops tend to be followed by a hard winter.)

THe apples are small, but like grapes on my tree. I picked one branch clean and another about half way, and got six gallons of little apples. There are a lot more on the tree yet. So I am learning how to make apple butter. God provides, and opportunity is knocking.

That reminds me, I need to change the oil in the snow thrower and check it over, too.

Yeah. I didn't do that. Live and learn. Next time I will.  I'd spend less time peeling and cutting if I had, and it will have to be done with a knife, not a widget, because they are so small.
Can't use the conventional corer, either.
(but I can do it in front of the teevee at night...)

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Yeah. I didn't do that. Live and learn. Next time I will.  I'd spend less time peeling and cutting if I had, and it will have to be done with a knife, not a widget, because they are so small.
Can't use the conventional corer, either.
(but I can do it in front of the teevee at night...)

That's right... and they're already the right size wedges for apple crisp... which I eat with every joy. I would be singing, except for stuffing my face.  happy77

It's been too hot and dry to have a crop of anything.  What does that mean?
It means it has been hot and dry there. We've had an unusually wet summer, but plenty of heat, too, with many days in the upper 90s and even breaking the triple digit mark. Ours is a climate of extremes. In three months -20 will not be so unusual.
How God must weep at humans' folly! Stand fast! God knows what he is doing!

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists

Hey Guys! I'm heading to 'Rock Bottom' this week. Should be there by Thursday.
If there is anything you need or want, something I could pick up while there, just let me know.
Will stop by the souvenir shop for Tylenol and Pepto on the way back. Could get you a tee shirt...?

I have the scars to prove it.  :chairbang:
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.
