Humvee stolen from psychological operations unit; Army offering reward
By Davis Winkie
 Thursday, Dec 8

 An Army Criminal Investigation Division reward poster shows the type of Humvee that was stolen last month from an Army Reserve unit in San Marcos, Texas. (Criminal Investigation Division/Army)
An up-armored High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, or Humvee, was stolen from an Army Reserve center in central Texas last month, and the Army Criminal Investigation Division announced a reward Thursday for “credible information” about the theft.

According to an agency press release, a Humvee with bumper number “399 TPC A1-6″ was stolen from a Reserve facility in San Marcos, Texas, “between Nov. 22 and 28.” The bumper number indicates that the vehicle belonged to the 399th Tactical Psychological Operations Company, an Army Reserve unit based there.

Law enforcement officials said that they’re offering a reward of up to $5,000 “for credible information leading to the arrest and conviction” of anyone responsible for the crime.

It’s not clear why the theft may have gone unnoticed for a week, but reserve component units have only a handful of full-time personnel. The Thanksgiving holiday may have also meant that unit full-time staff were not present.

Ok,someone stole it.

Now that they have it,what the HELL are they going to do with it?

 Damn things are pretty useless for anything but driving in deserts or other rough terrain,and you can buy a new 4x4 whatever for a LOT less money that will do the same thing with more comfort.

@DB

It MIGHT get that going downhill or on a level,flat paved road at 45 mph.

Off-road and in 4 wheel drive,I suspect 6-8 mpg

My boot camp company had like 86 guys in it with about 83 from NYC.  Some had never seen live cows.  Well, some used to sneak out of the barracks at night from time to time just to keep their skills in thieving up to snuff.  Maybe it was just a challenge to steal one that counted. wink777
