Wow, I've seen people set up little towns for their model trains, but this really takes the cake.

When I was a kid, this is the one we went to in Pittsburgh:

My uncle used to have a railway town in his basement set up for his model trains that was pretty impressive, but nothing like Rod Stewart's.  When my uncle passed, each of his nieces and nephews all got an engine and a caboose.  I still have mine.

Wow. Like that musician .

There’s a really big train place in NJ. Website says it’s the largest miniature railroad attraction

I  liked his music, but seeing this, and the intricate detail involved, I'm actually impressed.
If you zoom in on the lower right image of the switchyards, there is laundry on the line in one back yard of the shantytown, and chickens in another yard. Even one of the garbage cans is full. Weathering and rust stains on the rail cars, rocks and weed patches, are all present. Kudos for work well done.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Mr. Stewart would work on portions of it while staying at hotels when he was touring (so I read).

Now that he's moving back to England, not sure if he will ship the layout back, or...?
