Ehhhhhhhhh, let's hold off on the premature celebrating.

That's from Die Hard, when John McClane, shoeless and up to his neck in terrorists, sarcastically greets his new cop buddy 'Roy' over the big turd pile he just stepped into.

Pretty descriptive of where we are now.

Judge blocks Arizona county from hand-counting ballots

McGinley said the Cochise County Board of Supervisors overstepped its authority by ordering the hand count of all ballots cast in the midterm election rather than the sample allowed by state law.

The Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans filed the lawsuit to stop the hand count. It argued state law only allows a small number of ballots to be counted by hand to ensure voting machine accuracy and that a hand count could cause a delay in certifying the election results, the Associated Press reported.

Wisconsin judge won’t order sequestering of absentee military ballots

A Wisconsin judge on Monday, less than 14 hours before polls opened, refused to order that military absentee ballots be pulled aside and sequestered until it can be verified that they were cast legally, saying that would be a “drastic remedy” that could disenfranchise voters...

...Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Maxwell denied that request for a temporary restraining order in a ruling from the bench following a two-hour hearing Monday afternoon.

Turnout is very heavy, very early in Maricopa. This is a real serious problem. No voter should ever have to leave their ballot in a box in the corner of the room and expect it to be handled properly at some point later.

It's a chain of custody nightmare and easily exploitable.

OK GOP, with Katie Hobbs as SOS, it's time to walk in with the lawyers and start screaming 'ballot security' and 'chain of custody' loudly in the media, Maricopa county, and right to her face.

The Gov and AG need to be on point too. This is unacceptable BS.

Mercer (county NJ) has countywide vote tabulator glitch, but voting by machine continues

Voting machines throughout Mercer County are facing technical difficulties this morning, but no voters are being turned away and machine votes are still being cast.

The issue involves a programming glitch with optical scanners, which count votes after ballots are filled out.

Programmers from the voting machine manufacturer, Dominion, are in site trying to work through the problem, the New Jersey Globe has confirmed.

“There is a slot on the top of the scanner and voters can vote and are voting manually,” said Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello.  “We are asking poll workers to use the official ballots because they can still vote them manually, and place them in the slot in the scanning machines and we will count them manually.”

Florida Department of State Rejects Federal “Election Monitors” – Puts Biden’s DOJ On Notice

The Florida Department of State warns Biden’s DOJ that if any federal “election monitors” are sent into polling places, State resources will be dispatched “to ensure that no interference with the voting process occurs.”

After the Department of Justice announced that they will send “election monitors” to Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, the DeSantis administration has issued a strongly-worded response.

On Monday, Brad McVay, General Counsel with the Florida Department of State, wrote a letter to the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division:

“Earlier today, the Florida Department of State received copies of your letters to Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in which you seem to indicate that the Department of Justice will send monitors inside polling places in these counties. We also understand you sent a similar letter to Palm Beach County,” McVay wrote.

He then stated that federal election monitors are not permitted under Florida law:

“Section 102.031(3)(a) of the Florida Statutes lists the people who ‘may enter any polling room or polling place.’ Department of Justice personnel are not included on the list.”

A 'Last Minute Change' Is Already Delaying Vote Counting in Philadelphia
Katie Pavlich

 |  November 08, 2022 10:00 AM

Within hours of polls opening in Pennsylvania Tuesday morning, a "last minute change" is already causing vote count delays in notoriously corrupt Philadelphia. Before the change this morning, votes in the city were expected to be fully counted by Wednesday morning.

Quote
From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

City officials voted Tuesday morning — as polling places opened and the vote count began for the midterm elections — to reinstate a time consuming and labor-intensive process for catching double votes that will slow how quickly they can report results.

If Pennsylvania’s high-stakes U.S. Senate race is as close as expected, a wait for results out of the state’s largest city is sure to shine a national spotlight on Philadelphia, similar to after the 2020 presidential election.

The city commissioners, the three-member elections board, voted 2-1 to reinstate what is known as poll book reconciliation — a means of flagging mail ballots submitted by voters who also voted in person — during an emergency 7 a.m. meeting.

It was a sudden reversal of a decision they made less than a week ago and came a day after a city judge, responding to a Republican lawsuit, said they could move forward without the process.

Just voted in Fulton Co, GA.  There was an entire army of poll workers there to assist with voting.  No line, but traffic was steady.

When it came to ID, I showed them my federally issued TWIC card instead of my GA driver's license.  They said they couldn't find my registration records.  I had to get on the phone with someone in downtown Atlanta.  They asked for my DL number which I gave them.  And voila!  They found my registration.

While this was going on, I had whipped out my phone and pulled up my personal voter registration page.  I then showed it to another poll worker who typed in my name.  It came right up.  Clearly the first poll worker had misspelled my name even after being asked three times to confirm they had spelled it correctly.

Anyhoo, I voted Libertarian in three races, GOP in the rest.  Did my research on the City Council race.  Voted in favor of every tax cut.  Voted against every bond referendum.

Prediction:  Herschel wins without a runoff.

DeSantis Pushes Back Against Biden DOJ Monitors Interfering in Florida's Election

JAVIER MANJARRES  |  NOVEMBER 8, 2022

The DeSantis administration is pushing back against President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice's apparent effort to send in election  “monitors” inside state-run polling locations within several Florida counties.

In a letter to  John “Bert” Russ, Deputy Chief & Elections Coordinator for the Department of Justice by Florida Department of State General Counsel Brad McVay, the DeSantis administration warns that under Florida statute,  DOJ monitors “are not permitted” inside Florida polling locations.

But Department of Justice monitors are not permitted under Florida law. Section 102.031(3)(a) of the Florida Statutes lists the people who “may enter any polling room or polling place.”  .  .

ABC reports Republicans should expect their leads to "crumble completely" in a "red mirage" as mail-in ballot dumps are counted

Joel Abbott  ·  Nov 8, 2022

This is totally fine and normal, good citizen. 2+2=5.

https://twitter.com/ABC/status/1589635310169866242

The title of this story is this:

Early election night results might not indicate final tallies (and why that's OK)
And super-totally-non-partisan ABC says we'll see a "red mirage" instead of a red wave.

Mhmm.

As early Election Day results come in on Tuesday, it will likely appear that a Republican candidates vying for any number of the federal or statewide races appear to be leading their Democratic opponents, even by large margins.

Their leads will dwindle, or crumble completely, after perceived "dumps" of votes are recorded by state election officials who count mail-in and absentee ballots in the days -- or even weeks -- following Election Day.

Even weeks, dear comrade! It could take weeks for election officials to count the ballots!

Section 102.031(3)(a) of the Florida Statutes lists the people who “may enter any polling room or polling place.”  .  .

Who are these puny State-level people, who think their laws count when the DOJ comes knocking.

Fulton County fires 2 poll workers after concerns over social media posts

November 08, 2022 at 11:44 am EST

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Fulton County election officials fired a poll worker and her son after they expressed concerns with social media posts.

The two workers were fired about 15 minutes before the polls opened at the Ocee Library. Fulton County Elections confirmed the workers are a mother and son.

The county’s elections interim director Nadine Williams said another worker overheard a comment made by the woman at a poll worker event. The peer also found social media posts made by the worker and reported them to the county.

“We sent that information to Secretary of State’s Office to ask if it should be under investigation for concern,” Williams said. “They also looked at the social media posts and said they agreed with the concern and that it’s our decision to remove.”

The county removed the workers until they can complete the investigation.

Williams said she could not comment on the nature of the posts, but the county “wanted to make sure the election was secure.”

“There were some things in there that were not allowed. You cannot take videos or photos in the election, so that’s what brought it to our attention,” Williams said.

A spokeswoman confirmed that officers responded to the library after two poll workers refused to leave. When officers arrived, the two people left without any incidents. Police said there was no arrests or incident reports filed.

Fetterman Claims Democrats Will Stage Late Night ‘Comeback’ After Early Tallies Lean Republican
by Cullen McCue
November 8, 2022

Last Updated on November 8, 2022
Pennsylvania’s Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate, John Fetterman, claimed that Democrats will stage a “comeback” after election day totals favor Republicans. The senate hopeful pointed to mail-in and absentee ballots, which cannot be counted until election day under Pennsylvania law. Still, many have questioned the validity of lengthy delays in counting votes, pointing to other states and foreign nations that count more votes in a shorter window of time.

“Counting for ballots cast by mail and early in-person cannot begin until Election Day, thanks to the GOP-controlled legislature — an intentional move to help Republicans baselessly sow doubt about the election results when it suits them,” Fetterman wrote in a memo to “interested parties,” The Washington Post reported.

“Pennsylvania is one of only eight states that bans pre-processing of early mail-in ballots, forcing county officials to wait until 7 a.m. on Tuesday to begin opening returned ballots and scanning them into the system,” he added.

Fetterman pointed to the more than 1.4 million mail-in ballots requested in Pennsylvania, which tend to skew towards Democrats. This is especially true in the Keystone State, as Spotlight PA recently reported that more than 70% of mail-in ballots requested came from registered Democrats.

“The biggest share of absentee and mail ballot requests came from Allegheny County [which includes Pittsburgh] and Philadelphia — nearly a quarter of the total,” Spotlight PA wrote.

In Pennsylvania, mail-in and absentee votes cannot be counted until polls open on election day. “Because Pennsylvania is one of the only states that reports Election Day totals first before ballots cast by mail, and because more populated counties around Philadelphia can take longer to report, we should expect one of the most dramatic shifts in the country from initial GOP support in early results to stronger Democratic gains as more votes are processed,” Fetterman said.

Michigan Activists Witness Suspicious Late Night Activity at Innocuous Warehouse at 3 AM Near Detroit Election Center

...Our sources have witnessed suspicious activities in Detroit for several days now.

Over the weekend, concerned citizens, driving in two cars, followed a Penske rental truck from the Detroit Department of Elections to a non-descript, one-story warehouse in southwest Detroit.

The truck ran at least one red light, possibly related to an attempt to shake the followers. Once there, the citizens initiated a round-the-clock vigil that, at press time, is still ongoing in a bid to observe any illegal activity such as illegally-manufactured ballots being injected into the flow of legitimate ballots.

Once the truck arrived in the parking lot, the citizen vehicles parked and began observing very peculiar activities: in the space of a few hours, 12-15 cars arrived at the gate of the warehouse, slowed as if about to turn in, only to turn around or drive on once the surveillance cars were spotted.

There is a printing company located directly across the street from the warehouse and it is known to have ballots – printing capabilities, including for the 2020 election.

I voted on the first day of early voting in Brazoria County, Texas.  This morning at 10:30 there was a long line and by 11:30 that line had grown to twice its size. It's good to see so many voting!

The problems with voting in AZ show you one thing, if SoS Katie Hobbs can't handle ensuring the machines were ready on election day, how would she handle an emergency as governor? Let's hope the good people of AZ never have to find out.
